I won’t rely on the John Locke people to publish anything this year- so here’s a link on my personal website to my essay if you’d like to have a read. For reference I won the second prize for Law this year.

Can someone in UK just make a call to JLI admin office to get Economics name list corrected? Quite embarrassing already there for days.

did you receive an interview

I'm getting quite annoyed at JLI for not even providing us with the date when the distinctions/ high distinctions will be announced. I'm thinking of emailing them to ask when and how they're going to announce the distinctions, hopefully they'll still reply in 72hrs. Anyone also considering emailing them…?

Sent them an email four days ago, and followed up today. No response unfortunately

Hey, did anyone submit an essay to the John Locke Institute Essay Comp this year? I did a law question.

I'm jumping into this thread here, sorry. I've never heard of this competition, so could you tell me a bit more about it? I have been thinking about entering some essay competitions, but have no idea where to start, so this may be where to start at least for next year.

search it up, the results are already out this year. The next one I believe starts at Spring 2024

Even I came across the article from sometime back. As far as I think, the students or grads would have possibly graded for only the first and second rounds whereas the last round would be of actual professors (since the shortlist email sent out emphasized that now it would be passed to professors for another round of reading). I think these people just choose capable essays.

I think that's the best explanation possible coz they couldn't have done through so much essays in a literal month (in the initial round) without an army of professors which I very much doubt that a primarily cost-free essay comp could have ever had. They are after all a private organization, so I think we all glorified the process and selection of the essay since many of us were very much disappointed with the strained nature of it.

Has anyone received any insight about Distinction/High Distinction awards and e-Certificates for those who didn't attend the event? For Distinction (in the past, "High Commendation") doesn't seem like the names will be publicly displayed on the website as it used to, but I would hope/assume they would be sent somehow for those that didn't attend.
