I thought that Sarah Montague did a good job today.

The BBC DG said that the presenter wasn't spoken to for 7 weeks or something. The BBC clearly didn't make enough effort to investigate it.

Why does the BBC report on this subject as if they are not the BBC??

Anyone notice this????

It's actually quite amusing.

I noticed this since yesterday, it's hilarious.

As above, it's an obligation on BBC news to act in that way.

Yeah we don't know whether he's male or not though, it's simply what I personally assumed

I think we can be pretty confident the minor is male, lots of sources saying that and none saying it was a girl.

That still doesn't change my comment/response (as in the fact that I find it hilarious despite the obligation).

Yeah, still probably best not to speculate though.

where does it say that he is male though, I thought on sky they said that but they didnt
The careful phrasing about "person", "their" etc makes me wonder whether the young people involved are trans.

I’ve already linked articles and tweets on this thread that show the person’s male.

Nah bbc would just sue them. That's why they ain't released it. Bbc is the biggest scam and most fall for it.
If you research this online you will see that subsequent to the Cliff Richard case the courts ruled that the media are not allowed to reveal a person’s identity if they are only accused of a crime. The BBC and other media outlets are prevented from revealing his identity by the law.
Huw Edwards's wife has named him as the presenter implicated in the allegations, and stated that he is currently receiving inpatient mental health treatment.

Full statement:

In light of the recent reporting regarding the 'BBC Presenter' I am making this statement on behalf of my husband Huw Edwards, after what have been five extremely difficult days for our family.

I am doing this primarily out of concern for his mental well-being and to protect our children.

Huw is suffering from serious mental health issues. As is well documented, he has been treated for severe depression in recent years.

The events of the last few days have greatly worsened matters, he has suffered another serious episode and is now receiving in-patient hospital care where he'll stay for the foreseeable future.

Once well enough to do so, he intends to respond to the stories that have been published.

To be clear Huw was first told that there were allegations being made against him last Thursday.

In the circumstances and given Huw's condition I would like to ask that the privacy of my family and everyone else caught up in these upsetting events is respected.

I know that Huw is deeply sorry that so many colleagues have been impacted by the recent media speculation. We hope this statement will bring that to an end.

Huw Edwards is the BBC presenter at the center of the sexting scandal. He was named on behalf of his wife.

Police investigators have found nothing criminal.

Things haven't changed since the Saville/Harris era. So glad I don't pay for this company anymore.

Sorry, I didn't realise this had gone back into pre-mod it's back open now and I've moved people's comments over.

A pre-emptive reminder that libel laws still apply even though the name has come out.

The police have concluded no criminal offence has taken place.

To draw parallel to Saville is at best ignorant, at worst deliberately malicious.

Edwards was always the most likely candidate because of the way every media outlet was losing their minds over the story.
