Thank you very much for your reply. I appreciate it.

Apologies for asking this again, but is there another recruitment campaign going on now?

Thanks.

Hi everyone,

I have my interview soon and I’d like to kindly ask the contributors on this thread for some guidance.

1. Can you refer to notes that you have made for the legal scenario to answer any questions posed during the online interview?

2. What is the structure of the interview?

3. How long does the interview last?

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Congratulations.
My experience was I asked about 10 questions. I unfortunately don’t remember all of them.
Some were scenarios - explain how you would approach a situation at work or in general. Others were questions that would allow you to go through your CV and sell yourself.
Use the SMART method to respond to every question. Look for follow up questions from the interviewers. I was interviewed by 3 people.
The legal scenario - I was given the opportunity to choose the area of law that I wanted to respond to before I was given the scenario. Make sure you read the laws and prepare. But it is important that you take a common sense approach when responding. Never be afraid to ask questions and say you are not sure as you will not have the full picture.

Thank you so much for your reply. I’m currently actively seeking a job so any help is greatly appreciated. I am trying my best to prepare. I have a question regarding the legal scenario. Do you mean that they ask you which area of law you prefer before sending the materials for the legal scenario. I read that they send you materials 2 days before the interview. I take it this could be criminal/civil/family but more likely to be criminal or civil as family is an elective? Thanks again and I look forward to your reply.

In my experience I received legal references to research on for both areas of law ( criminal and family) I am not sure if your recruitment campaign gave you those specific options. I would recommend you looking through the job description again. However you will receive a email with the information that you need to research on. But you choose which area of law you want to receive the assessment for on the day of the interview. And then you hear the question 😊. Again…that’s my experience…

This is my experience as well. The material to be researched was in both Family and Criminal Law.

You are allowed to choose on the day.

The recommended reading was substantial for the short period provided. A word of caution: If you completed your LPC long ago and you do not currently have access through Uni to Lexis or another legal database, you will have to find an alternative way to download cases (if they are part of your reading material). The legislation is easily found through Google. Good luck! PS. Lexis Nexis require an organisational/business account for their 7-day trial!

Anyone else still waiting for a start date? I’ve done everything now, I had issues with the health questionnaire which delayed it slightly but it’s been 3 weeks and I’ve not had any update! Really hope I get one soon!

Hi everyone,

Can you please share how much time on the interview is allocated to the competencies and the legal assessment?

Is it one hour for competencies and half hour for the assessment. I’m not sure if I read this somewhere.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Hello,

I am now at the stage where I have accepted my contract and received my Welcome Letter. I have details of my base, Line Manager, start date etc.

I imagine that you will receive an update in time if you keep waiting. It just seems to be a long process. However, if you are concerned then reach out to the Recruitment Team ([email protected]). I did this 4 weeks after I received an update stating that my formal offer and contract would be emailed to me because I had not heard anything. The Recruitment Team responded to me quicly and told me that they had contacted the Vacancy Manager, which then moved things along. There is also a chat option (the link is usually in the emails sent providing updates), but this would not work for me and so I used email. There is also a contact number you can try (0345 241 5359), which I have used once and managed to get through after a short wait.

Good Luck and I hope you get an update soon. xXx

I think it is about 60 minutes for the Behavioural and Strength Questions with 30 minutes allocated for the Legal Asssessment. Good Luck. xXx

Hello
Did you confirm your start date with your LM before or after signing your contract?

It was fist confirmed through a Vacancy Manager and this was before I had received the formal contact to "accept" in the portal. I had my email stating I would be receiving the offer and contract though a further email, but I had not heard anything further for four weeks and so I made contact with the Recruitment Team. After that, I received a call from the Vacancy Manager to confirm my base Court and estimated start date. About a week later these details were confirmed and I was given details of my Line Manager. My formal contract did not come through until a couple of weeks after that. Hope this helps.

Hi everyone.

For those of you that had an interview online, were you required to provide/upload any documents before?

There is no link on my MOJ portal to upload any documents, just the interview booking which I have already booked.

Thank you for your advice, I called up the SSCL this morning and they said it’s still just a waiting game, very frustrating but I suppose it’s how it is! I get my BTC results back soon so I’m going insane waiting on both these things haha 😂

Hello Everyone
For those who have received their contract and welcome letter - there are links within the letter that should have allowed us to access the induction pages - has anyone had any success in accessing these?

Hi, the link doesn't currently work. I contacted the Recruitment Team and they said: "Please be aware that due to high maintenance by Cabinet Office, the link to the Civil Service Induction is not currently available. The induction for any new members of staff will be undertaken via the Civil Service Induction site once you have started your employment and have access to your work email". I hope this helps. xXx
