But I don’t know if that’s a good idea tho. As it seems like very few people here are looking to go to CUHK. Is it a bad school?

I thought they were nicer to the students

It is good, I’ve two friends who are also top IB scorers chose CUHK instead of HKU. Did you get offer from CU Med?

Yes.

Then there is no point to suffer this endless waiting from HKU. There is no deadline for CUMed’s offer?

But I really do prefer HKU over CUHK, even when I got offer for year 2 entry, I still prefer HKU’s enrichment year. I already enrolled in CUHK, however I’m willing to quit if HKU give me an offer.

You have every freedom to take a gap year after year two in cuhk to enjoy your enrichment year too. CUHK is very liberal in this aspect. HKU has a compulsory enrichment year, but cuhk is more flexible to allow students to make their own choices.

CUHK has higher admission grades of local students who take dse in HK. It also demands more from AL students, by asking greater than 95% in their ums. Students with 4A* in AL do not even guarantee to have an interview.

You are lucky.

The locals know more of their local universities and the majority of local top scorers choose cuhk. It probably admits less than 20 graduate students out of a few hundred applicants. I think you must be a competitive applicant and are quite lucky.

But HKU is a better school overall, didn’t you prefer HKU over CUHK as well? You should know what I mean 😢

If I’m a competitive applicant, I wouldn’t been waitlisted by HKU 🫠

I actually prefers CUHK myself. HKU has a higher overall reputation, but the medical faculty of cuhk has a higher ranking than its counterpart. That is all what i can say otherwise a typing war will be elicited.

But basically graduates from both medical schools have similar career path, so just follow your heart to go to hku.
