Founding the police force
Changing the law to help the poor.

I'm going to be honest here, I know very little about him (I don't study History A Level). Heard Lord Hurd of Westwell giving a speech about him, but he only touched on a few points really.

What's your top 10, chic?

Mine's pretty much the same as yours but I would put the repeal of the corn laws pretty low since it was unpopular.

Founding the Police Force
Introducing the Mining Act of 1842 which limited the working hours of children

Police Force
Dealt with the Irish problem temporarily
Improved Law and Order
Catholic Emancipation
Ended protectionism
Conservative Party - effectively the father of modern conservatism?
Started the national system of party organisation
First person to use the whip system to better discipling the HoC
Ensured that parties remained active between elections with campaigning to ensure proper representation
Set up what became QUB iirc?

Those are some of the things I remember from AS history. Not sure how far they're all 'achievements' though.
Introducing income tax

Free trade budgets, particularly the repeal of the Corn Laws

Founding the Police Force

Catholic Emancipation

Creating the Conservative Party

Factories Act

Mining Act

Irish Temporalities

Launching the first party political manifesto

Getting a double first from Oxford

.....If its achievements of Sir Robert Peel your looking for the Mines Act was in fact the initiative of Lord Ashley and given no encouragement by Peel. And the Factory Act!?! Peel actually campaigned FOR longer working hours and threatened resignation unless Ashley amendment to a 10 hour working day was uped to 12.... not peels greatest moment i feel. And am i correct that it was infact Canning who was responible for Chatholic Emancipation!? Peel refused to join the govenment as he was so anti catholic.

Nothing Peel did was infact to help the poor, Peel was an Economic and Religeous reformer believing that this would sort out the social problems.

Why has nobody mentioned the bank charter act of 1844!? This act is what allot of our current economic model is based on.

He greatest achievement however must be free trade.

But allot of the listed "achievements" are not his achievements!

And as a Conservative supporter I'm very glad that he did that. Ultra Toryism was becoming incompatable with contemporary politics.
He start new conservative thinking.he repealed corn law.1842 mines act and 1844 factory act is most important during his time.he's beyond politics.he Reduce penal code and Reform criminal code.free trade system and Metropolitan Police system introduced.1829 act 1832 reform act.i thinks he is best pm of England.

Hi r u from Pakistan? Sir Peel's creation of the police force was a fantastic thing but he must be turning in his grave because of all the knife murders in London for 2018 alone. It's sad how the UK has turned out. People now have to talk about UK's past glories because there aren't any to talk about, from the present day.
Would anyone consider his 1942 and 1945 budgets as some of his bigger successes? Surely the movement towards freer trade merits some consideration?
