Does anyone know which universities won't talk to us about clearing position unless we are in clearing?

Say if we want to try an university with higher entry requirements which has clearing places.

There’s no lists of this. You just have to ring and see.

For healthcare courses like nursing that require an interview, at what stage do you have your interview? I understand for other courses you can call multiple universities and get multiple informal offers then you add onto ucas whichever you choose to go to, but with courses like nursing can you do the same thing and obtain multiple interviews and only after will get an informal offer and add to ucas whichever you choose.

Probably a Zoom interview in the next few days or maybe this afternoon after you apply through clearing.
The first step is ringing up that university.
@KA_P may be able to help with any further questions you have on this

Best wishes to you today ! :hugs:

Good Morning,

That's a really great question! The best thing to do is call the universities you're interested in and they will then see if they can offer you an interview! Healthcare courses are usually always interview courses and so you would have an interview before receiving an offer. Once you have your offers back you can then select a clearing choice and be excited! If you're still looking at universities at the University of Leicester we have several healthcare courses available in clearing including our nursing courses. Here's the link to our course website https://le.ac.uk/nursing where we have a range of single and dual field courses available all with integrated masters in leadership.

Give us a call and one of our lovely staff or student ambassadors will be able to help on 0116 373 6000

Best of luck!

How long does it take to get confirmation from the university on UCAS after adding a clearing choice?

It will usually be within 24 hours but it can take a bit longer.

Keep an eye on your email for requests for documents/proof of quals etc as it’s usually only when you add the choice that they’ll do all those checks

As above - they may get back to you with an email today but any formal decision will probably go to UCAS overnight and so you would see it on UCAS in the morning.

Hi @r51213,

It usually takes between 24-48 hours on average for the universities to process your offer and results!

Hope this helps!

Oops, thanks. The issue is that I want to reject my insurance offer in order to accept an offer in Clearing. But there is no button to do so in the hub. I have called the uni and asked if they can reject me in the system, or allow me to reject the offer. But they have not yet done so. My Clearing offer will expire shortly and I cannot accept it, even though I want to.

That's very annoying of the insurance uni! The first thing you should do, if you haven't yet, is call your Clearing uni, explain the situation and that your insurance uni are being slow to release you, and ask if they can extend your Clearing offer. Make it clear that you want to go to the Clearing uni and will be taking the offer up.

The Clearing offer uni has been really prompt and communicative. I spoke to them to explain and told them I will accept their offer. It just feels so stressful that I cannot do anything but wait and hope.

They said to contact them again on the date of expiration to request an extension. The Insurance uni is Heriot-Watt.

What is your status on UCAS Hub?
Are you placed with Heriot-Watt as your unconditional firm? (even if it had been your insurance)
If HW are now CF (conditional firm) then I would email them. Put the subject line as “URGENT - please reject me into clearing asap” and include your full name, UCAS ID, course applied for and date of birth and make it clear that you have a clearing offer elsewhere that you want to accept and need them to make a decision either way urgently.

At this stage the people on the phones might not be in a position to actually amend applications - the people on the emails usually will.

Then call on Monday first thing to check that your email has arrived and ask when they will be able to process a decision.

Then call back every hour throughout the day on Monday chasing a decision.

Basically make yourself such a pain to deal with that someone will fast track sorting out your application just to stop you from phoning

It says 'HW is still deciding on your application'.
