balancing year 13 and a part-time job

hi i'm a sixth form student who has just finished year 12 and is moving into year 13 in september. i have already started revising this year's content (including year 2 content i have started in class), but i am planning to apply for a part-time job to get some extra money on the side and also build my cv.

i would have not considered applying for a job at such an important time like this but my mum is the only adult in my household who is in charge of income, and she also has health issues with her body movements. so it really pains me that i am already turning 18 soon (i've repeated year 12 this year), and i'm still relying on my mum for money while she's struggling with her health but still working extra hours to earn more.

sorry for waffling but that's just a bit of a backstory for the following questions i have:

1. does anyone have any advice on how to balance both revision and part-time?

2. are there any particular part-time jobs which pay well for students?

3. is there a certain wage amount that is considered decent? (i have searched but it's giving me different figures)

sorry for typing out basically my whole life story lol but rn it is financially difficult and i really don't think i have a choice to not work bc of this. i would really appreciate any advice which can be of use, ty <3

It's really nice that you want to help your mum out
I would recommend either getting a weekend job or working remotely from home. Don't work too many hours as you still need time to fit revision in.
In answer to your questions:
1. Don't work too much, maybe keep it at around 10/15 hours a week
2. Retail is a good place to start, the pay isn't much but it will help you get some experience and to put something on your CV
3. Minimum wage and above would be okay I guess, ideally above

Hope that helps

if you have good GCSE's I would recommend applying for an online tutor role. ive just finished my A levels and managed to secure a role as an online maths and English tutor for explore learning so I would suggest you check them out. the pay is ok (7.90 an hour for 18 yr olds) but its and easy job I would say and its chill cause you get to work from home.

btw the application process is quite long, first you do a test, if you pass the test then you do the self recorded video interview then if you pass this you get a real interview with someone. but check it out anyway and defo apply for it.
