Hello :hello:

First of all WELL DONE on achieving this

Second, there are some dental schools you would not be eligible for, but some where you might be. If you click on the link below, you'll see all the entry requirements for each dental school.

Get a piece of paper, and list the ones you would still qualify for - then what you would need to study and/or resit to fully qualify for each one.

If you need help with that I'd be happy to do it, but won't be able to until Thursday this week I'm afraid.

That would be fantastic, would I be able to give you a text on Thursday?

Nat 5 AOM
Nat 5 English
Nat 5 Admin

I got 2 D's and a B.
2 D's in AOM and English; a B in Admin.

Maths, I'm glad I passed. Thank God.
English, I was quite sad. My English teacher was awful this year.
Admin, I could've got an A, but oh well.

I'm going into S6.

No, I'm arguing for Higher like it or not.

Those aren’t a terrible set of results, so don’t feel bad.

Which subject were you predicted As? Do you find your result odd or do you feel it lines up with your exam performance?

Also, do you have a plan for the future or do you need help figuring it out?

Well, I got my first and last non-A grade, a B in AH Maths. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Okay, a grade B is still brilliant.

You should be very proud of yourself.

Leaving the exams I felt good like A grade good but I guess not.

And nah I don’t got a plan for the future cus idk

Got AACC in Geography, History, RMPS and Chemistry and met my conditions for Glasgow Uni! Bit disappointed about RMPS since I was consistently getting high A's in class but it is what it is.

What qualification are these? National 5? Higher? Advanced Higher?
What do you want to study?
Do you hope to go to university?

Sorry for the number of questions, I just want to know as much information before I start suggesting options.

Congratulations! Those are a brilliant set of results.

It seems there is a large imbalance between predicted grades and actual grades for the essay subjects for a few students. :curious:
It doesn’t matter though in the long run because you’ve met your conditions for Glasgow Uni! Once again, congratulations!

Bois I'm taking a gap year. For Edinburgh I'm gonna try go straight for 2nd year entry. I got A's for advanced higher maths and physics but they want AAA. Makes no sense since ST Andrews only wants AA

Different universities have different entry requirements depending on what they think you will need to to ensure you have the right skills and knowledge to successfully complete the course.

It’s ultimately your decision but I hope you have researched the upsides and downsides of second year entry?

Ahh Edinburgh why. Should have taken adv chem I was lazy

These are Higher Qualifications.
I’m hoping to do either maths or something in engineering like software engineering or electrical.
I WAS hoping to go to Edinburgh Uni but at this point 🤷🏽

These are Higher Qualifications.
I’m hoping to do either maths or something in tech like software engineering.
I WAS hoping to go to Edinburgh Uni but at this point idk if I can

BSc Mathematics (Edinburgh):
SQA Highers: AAAAA (achievement by end of S5 preferred). BBB must be achieved in one year of S4-S6.
Advanced Higher Mathematics is recommended.

BEng Software Engineering (Edinburgh):
SQA Highers: AAAAA (achievement by end of S5 preferred). BBB must be achieved in one year of S4-S6.
Advanced Higher Mathematics is recommended.

It’s looking unlikely, I’m afraid. You might need to aim a little lower with your choice of university. Or, you could resit your exams. This is Edinburgh’s policy:
‘If you are re-sitting Highers to improve your grades you may still be considered, but any offer we make may be based on grades above those usually required.’

Be Results Proud my friend

You've done your best and you have achieved as a result. This adds to what sounds like a very impressive list of qualifications already. :adore:

I’m going to try an appeal my grades but does it help that due to my school I’m considered a widening access applicant.

I’m going to try an appeal my grades but does it help that due to my school I’m considered a widening access applicant.

I did bring up the idea of appealing in an earlier post, but I somehow went back and changed my response. I can't quite recall why I did that or the reasoning behind it, so I apologise for that confusion.

Here is a link that explains the appealing process if you choose to go ahead with it:
https://www.sqa.org.uk/sqa/files_ccc/SQA-Appeals-2023.pdf

I suggest getting in touch with your school as soon as possible to at least discuss appealing if you are having thoughts about it.

Widening access does help!

BSc Mathematics (Edinburgh):
The minimum entry requirement for widening access applicants is:
SQA Highers: AABB by end of S6. BBB must be achieved in one year of S4-S6.

BEng Software Engineering (Edinburgh):
The minimum entry requirement for widening access applicants is:
SQA Highers: AABB by end of S6. BBB must be achieved in one year of S4-S6.

You are one grade off from each course. If you appeal, and it is successful, then your chances are greater. If you appeal and the grade stays the same or decreases, they are lower.

You will be applying through UCAS, correct? If so, you will have five options. Those two courses could potentially be your aspirational options. Then, of course you will need two courses that match your entry requirements and one safety.
