I GOT MY RESULTS BACK AND....

.... I GOT INTO WARWICK !!!!

Here are some changes in my plans. My priority now is to finish the book Algebra & Geometry by Beardon before the term starts. On top of that, I would like to finish a high portion of Introduction to ODE by Robinson. Finally, I would like to finish reading Foundations notes; all of these would give me a good starting point. The reason why I want to advance quickly is because I have some other plans during the school year (e.g., super curricular stuff). Also, I was following this other GYG by @_gcx, which sort of inspired me to audit some Year 2 modules in Year 1 if possible (I am looking forward to doing that for number theory in the second term).

I am planning to audit 2nd year multilinear algebra course as well, I really enjoy working with matrices and vectors - tensors in general tbh. I also like giving myself these long term tasks ; they keep my motivation up

Well done! Getting ahead is by no means necessary, but it's nice to have a bit of an easier start while you're settling in and exploring everything else there is to do at uni.

Make sure you plan to leave enough time for the refresher maths course too in the weeks before term starts. It shouldn't be too challenging but it's good prep for uni style learning and gives you a chance to get used to the Moodle environment and uploading assignments. (It doesn't count for anything so I guess you don't technically have to do it, but your mark does go on your transcript.)

Congratulations on your results, best of luck next year:smile:. Although I don't think you'll need it, you seem to be very on top of things

I'll be doing multilinear Algebra next year as well, it looks pretty interesting imo.
Haven't decided if I want to do the number theory one though

Thank you so much xoxox
Do you know when will I be able to access Moodle? I know it's quite early to think about but I wouldn't mind getting myself used to the system there.

In theory it'll be as soon as you have your ITS account, which is after enrolment (it was August 19th in my year but our results day was a week earlier). As part of this you'll do the Warwick Values course on Moodle, but it doesn't really work the same as normal Moodle courses, so it's not the best for getting used to the system. The refresher maths course itself is usually released in the first week or so of September, and will be a much better opportunity to explore Moodle

I have been away for a while, mainly because I didn’t do much 😑. But on the bright side, I am halfway through the Foundations lecture notes. Today I will catch up on:

Reading “Guide To Analysis” by Mary Hart. The first few chapters are a review of what I already know, but it’s good to refresh my memory
Learning some bits on differential equations. I have a book on ODEs that looks fun.
Studying some linear algebra. I have several books and a lecture note from Oxford. I will probably end up reading the lecture note.
Reviewing my Anki cards for today’s sesh.

I am prioritizing reading the books from recommendations list on Warwick's website:
"Foundations of Mathematics" by Ian Stewart
"Algebra and Geometry" by Beardon
And finally "Guide to Analysis" by Mary Hart.

The latter hasn't delivered to me yet- bought it from WOB. But I have copies of the prior two. I am about halfway through A&G, though I would like to finish it before the Welcome Week.

Here are all of my long term goals(before Welcome Week):

1) Finish the A&G and Foundations of Mathematics.
2) Finish Guide to Analysis by 15th of September; I have done some prior reading so this shouldn't be too difficult.
3) Finish reading Foundations notes. After I finish I would like to read Numbers&Sets lecture notes from Cambridge as they cover some stuff that is not included in Foundations. But that is not by all means necessary.

I've just realised, my Moodle account is activated; and i have access to all of the materials from past years. This is definitely a positive thing

That's great news! Good luck with everything

Thank youu xoxo

I've been reviewing last year's recordings on Moodle and I'm finding that I'm actually pretty comfortable with the material. I thought pace at uni was rapid but I found it managable.

I'm particularly enjoying the videos on analysis and algebra. I think I know every topic on Algebra 1, and it's nice to see my hard work paying off. I'm also finding that the modules for first year have been made more difficult since the change in curriculum. This is challenging, but it's also motivating me to work harder. I am thinking of auditing a 2nd year Algebra module( Groups Rings and Modules). But I found out that I can just watch the recordings and do PS privately.

Next week, I plan to finish the sequences stuff from Moodle. I'm currently reading a book on groups and group actions, and I'll continue with that. I'll also continue reading "Algebra and Geometry" by Beardon and "Guide to Analysis" by Mary Hart. I've heard that the latter isn't very challenging, so once I'm settled in my accommodation, I want to explore other analysis books in the library. I've heard that the one by Burkill is quite good.

I'm feeling good about my progress so far, and I'm excited to keep learning. There are so many interesting things to learn about in maths. One of my long term goals is to find what branch I am interested in. Everything happens at its own time?

It's me again:smile:

I am currently learning some Diff Eq. I have also applied to some tutoring companies; hopefully, I will hear back soon.
Hi @Kumi150 just to let you know I've moved your blog over to the new forum for Grow Your Grades 2023-24. Good luck with everything!

Thank you!!
I feel like it's been ages since I wrote an update. THIS IS FRESHERS WEEK! So don't expect me to write a lot :/ Right now, I am trying to solve some issues with sports clubs, gym membership and society passes. I also need to invest some time into thinking about accommodation for the future years. In terms of maths, I have been doing more probability and foundations stuff as they are the things I am more interested in.

This is me again. I have a gym subscription now, and I try to go every morning(2 hours). I love Analysis so far, all of the stuff I have done over summer. Same with, foundations. I met with my supervision group, they are all great people. I love it so far. Right now I have 3 assignments that will due next week; and I have 1 left. So that's great as well. If I can create some free time, I love to read some extra reading. I want to learn Metric Spaces as one of my friends told me that's like the next level. I would also like to do more Statistics, I'm keen to do the Term 2 module.

Originally, I was hoping to do the Algebra 3 module on Term 1. But it clashes with so many things that I don't think it's going to work. Over a holiday, I could watch the recordings.
