Does bowland halls have superior en suite rooms or is it just bowland tower

We no longer advertise rooms as basic or superior. The rooms previously advertised as superior en suite would be the most expensive en suite room you can apply for. If the listing for this type of room in Bowland College just lists bowland tower in its description, then you will not be able to get it in bowland halls. If the description lists both and you have a preference between the two blocks, you can state your preference on the application but we are unable to guarantee preferences.

Hi,
I am home student for biochemistry and starting this year. On my timetable it says for 2nd October study abroad orientation, what is that? And do I have to attend. And on 6th October it says international check in and university card collection, do I have to go even though I am home student. (I do have interna Passport from EU, and pre settled status)

The study abroad orientation is an in-person session. If you are attending Lancaster as a Study Abroad, Exchange or Erasmus+ student for a term or full academic year, you have to attend. You are not supposed to go to the international check in and university card collection. However, you have to attend one session of your college's Right to Study and University Card Collection.

Hi

Congratulations!
My advice would be to check Facebook as this is where a lot of university group chats are created/linked. You could also try following Instagram pages like psychologylancaster or lancasterunimanagementschool to keep up to date. In welcome week you will be able to attend introductory events for your course and will be able to join group chats then. I didn't join any groups until I arrived at uni so there's definitely plenty of time and everyone is super willing to talk to new people at the start of the year especially.

Hope this helps,

Hello Anon,

Have you downloaded the ILancaster app?

If you haven’t you should, and then you can click on your profile and see exactly what college you are in.

Alternatively, if you log in on the student portal and look at your profile it should also tell you which college you’re in.

Your college should also be the same as the accommodation you selected.

Hope this helps,
Dom

Once you know which college you are in, you can go to this website, click on "Set your profile filters", set the Course Filter to MBChB Medicine with a Gateway Year, set the UG/PG Filter to UG, and set the College Filter to your college. This shows all the events you can attend, although you only have to attend the ones that you are emailed about (check your emails carefully, because there may be more than one email requiring you to attend a welcome week event).

Hey Anon,
Congrats on your big day and welcome to university life!
I think they are the same thing as I remember attending only the 10am one.
Hope you have a great day

Hi what is the best option for commuters. Season tickets or annually tickets option for trains. Please help thanks.
How many holidays do you get roughly altogether ( in months) in university?
Thanks

I remember when daughter checked in when she started a few years back she got hers from her porters, so might be worth asking there to see if they have a cartmel college lanyard

How long are the breaks at lancaster university?

Hi,
At Lancaster, we have 3 terms which all last 10 weeks. This means you have 4 weeks holiday over Christmas, 4 weeks holiday over Easter, and therefore 14 weeks holiday over summer.
If it helps, the term dates for this academic year are:
Welcome Week = 2-6 October 2023
Michaelmas term = 6 October 2023 15 December 2023
Lent term = 12 January 2024 22 March 2024
Summer term = 19 April 2024 28 June 2024

Hope this helps!

Hi Anon,
At Lancaster we have 30 weeks of term time, which means we roughly get 5 months of holidays throughout the year. I haven't got any experience with season/annual train fares but hopefully knowing how many holidays we have will help.
It might also be worth buying a stagecoach bus pass for the year as well, as you'll have to get a bus from the train station to campus. The bus pass costs £340 for the 3 terms, so if you are going to be on campus for most of the term time it will probably be worth it.
Also, Railcards are a good way to get cheaper train fares.
If you have any more questions feel free to ask!

Hi,
Usually at the right to study checks where you are given your ID, they don't give out lanyards. Sometimes colleges may give out lanyards when you collected your keys on the 1st day, but not every college does this.
Hope this helps
