"Start small and make tiny changes over time." is definitely the way to go~ gunna adopt that as my life motto now :h:

Oh! I'm doing Advanced Higher Biology, Maths and Music this year
(H Accounting sounded fun so I'm doing that along with my 3 AHs too hehe).
Oddly enough, I love studying my subjects. Bio & Maths, for the stem girlie I am. Music for the free therapy. Accounting for the side of me that wants to grow up and start a business. #weloveit

Admittedly, I've not been able to dedicate as much study time as I'd like for my subjects though; I've been too busy trying to study for the UCAT this whole time :cry2:. It's derailed all my hot girl summer and hot girl study plans fr.
I'll mentally make amends to my study schedule for now... I think it'll become more of a "This is something I have the potential to achieve" thing for now yk?

... so yeah, it's not that I intentionally procrastinate, I just need to learn how to prioritise things properly, I think :')
Again, thank you for the endless tips  I'll keep them in mind for later.
I'm sure they not only help me, but also everyone else reading our blogs too~ #you'rethesuperhero #GOATbehaviour

Yeah otherwise you'd get overwhelmed and procrastinate as a coping mechanism for the overwhelm.

I don't know much about AH Math but... i suppose get the revision guides etc. and there is no bbc bitesize for you. For bio... same thing ig? Don't know that much, other than that I was offered to start 5 highers 1 year early at 14.
If it gets too much you can drop the Higher, and focus on the 3AH. If you apply to other subject other than math/dentistry, 3AH could allow you advanced entry at scottish unis so keep that in mindn.

True, so procrastinate less for more time. Yes, but y'know, now it needs to be conservative. I suppose you could get that study schedule in 6 months?

You are right. I struggled with prioritising, especially at 12-13. It's gonna be very difficult at first so focus by prioritising one thing first. Then 2, 3. Only way to fix it is slowly.

No problem. Also it would help if someone really wanted to skip a year. Or even 2 (which I tried). And still get offered from strong unis.
Just saw your blog. Good luck this year!!

The UCAT and PS writing on top of everything else is so overwhelming... It's definitely why I'm procrastinating doing anything for them both rn. :'D
But it's okay, my UCAT will be over 2 weeks from now and I'll have started my PS drafts then... so things are looking up :h: !!

I'll look into the revision guides soon, but thankfully I can just dig online for a bunch of free resources at the moment !!! It's impressive you got offered to sit 5 Highers at 14. My school doesn't let anyone in my year or below study courses early anymore (don't ask me why, idk either), so it was never an option for me. :borat:
I have actually considered dropping one subject, but tbh I've decided that I'll adopt the "NEVER BACK DOWN NEVER WHAT" mindset for this year and just stick with these 4 subjects anyway. It's not that bad actually... Just a mouthful to learn and digest is all :'D (wish me luck!).

And yeah... Hopefully, I can get my priorities straight!~ We got this!

You need to break it down into step by step. Maybe aim to complete one sentence of the PS every day and eventually you'd get the PS in time. Just an example. Focus on UCAT first because UCAT is in 2 weeks while the deadline for applying and PS is technically Oct 15.

Unfortunately BBC bitesize is not too useful for AH except for revising Highers, but i suppose you can use pmt or exam solutions or save my exams and see which topics to revise. I've been offered at 1 school, nearly offered at another (before screwing an interview). Even at very good schools. If you want to find out more, it's quite personal so you could stick to PM me. Some schools are more flexible and will let it happen. Even skipping Nat 5 entirely or skipping GCSE entirely (for some state school in UK). I can PM you if you want even more info.

If it's not that bad, continue. Just make sure to get things going. I suggest focusing more on UCAT rather than PS to get priorities straight.

It is. Especially from a person with no 9s at GCSE (myself). Well I did take them along with 3 a levels but oh well. @zeasea congrats on the grades and hopefully you actually get into caambridge comp sci.

If you're behind in your studies, don't worry - even I am behind as well. I've finished FP2 Ch7 but not Ch 8 and time is running tight.

https://www.hoddergibson.co.uk/mathematics hodder gibson. I've used hodder books before, they're actually pretty good, although not the scottish ones. You could try them to get a head start.

I wonder, if you had the opportunity to take highers early or other exams early or even skip a year or even two, if you'd have done it. In library when studying, make sure electronics are very far away. Print everything out so don't get distracted.

I suppose in person study buddies are much better than online ones.

Hi again!! That's actually a really good idea... Maybe I'll even push myself and start drafting a paragraph a day lolol :h:
Me and the UCAT are in a hate-hate relationship rn, so studying for it isn't going very well. I'll try to focus on it more in these 2 weeks tho dw~

Yeah... BBC Bitesize was cute to use for N5 and Higher, but it's definitely no help for AH. I think I've got my study resources all sorted out though hehe~ I'm genuinely so excited to get into the nitty-gritty of my subjects; Me and the course specification are going to be best friends.
Thank you so much for your recs though! I'll sneak a peek at them later on~ #muchappreciated

I think it definitely would depend on what sort of support they offered me specific to skipping a year - there were some subjects that I definitely really benefitted from the extra year to develop skills in, but for most of them I felt pretty ready for GCSEs by the end of year 10. I think if I was offered the right support program for those subjects then I might agree to it.

The Cambridge deadline is starting to creep up on me, so I'm primarily working on Cambridge stuff at the moment. It's go time for me.

05/09 ~ mini-note!
All my goals for tonight have been derailed all because of a cute little email from my teachers informing me that I have a school/house captain interview with them first thing tomorrow morning... :h: :eyeball: :colonhash: :cry2:
HOW DO PEOPLE PREPARE FOR INTERVIEWS????
WHAT DO I SAY WHEN I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO SAY????
HOW DO I MAKE MYSELF NOT LOOK NERVOUS???
WILL I EVEN SURVIVE TOMORROW??

in that case block all distracting things and start studying for ucat. i suppose... if a paragraph a day and you have six paragraphs you can finish the PS in 6 days. Either way, you can finish it on time. Even if you only write 200 characters a day that's at most 20 days for the PS.

It's just for revision of the fundamentals in your case, and BBC Bitesize wasn't exactly exam oriented, more like a simple overview, I didn't like it that much. For course specification make sure to use it.

Interesting. Which subjects? For me, if the school offered a program and enough support early enough and resources etc. then I would probably agree to skip a year. Maybe even 2. I do think I had what it took to skip a year. Probably not 2.

Yeah, I'd only agree to skip 1 year I think. I think skipping 2 years would have started to be too much for me. As for which subjects, it's mostly the ones that were heavily impacted by the COVID lockdowns and teacher shortages - so Maths and 3D Design. Both of these subjects didn't provide any lessons or support over the lockdowns, so when we got back it was pretty rushed to actually finish the course because we'd effectively not been doing anything for a year or so aside from homework on stuff we already did and a few small projects for 3D. I got an 8 and a 6 in those two subjects respectively, which I'd say is pretty good for literally spending a year doing nearly nothing.

I share your view. The time I attempted to skip 2 years it was really rushed. And only got BBC. So I learnt my lesson. Even the generous schools suggested only 1 year for a good reason. For me it was 2nd language, impacted by COVID so I tried my 1st attempt at year skipping and it didn't work. My 2nd attempt was in spring to autumn 2021. My 3rd attempt was in 2022. My 4th attempt is now. I finally got it after my 4th attempt.

In that case, I do think if you had the right support and attitude I think you would've been able to skip.

Fair enough tbh... I'll try to get back on the UCAT studying grind soon :'D.
I might start PS drafting this weekend and see where that takes me too.
And yes, the course spec and I were best buddies during Higher and Nat5.
Don't you worry, I'm definitely using it again this year.

in that case use the TSR PS builder and see where it takes you. Ask them for advice about your PS, using their specialised PS advice tool.

Yeah good work. Not just spec but past papers and keep grinding and even Isaac Physics, PMT etc. because isaac physics did help for maths. It can help somewhat for bio and chem.
