Average consultant pay over 4 times what I earn and people wonder why I'm salty over them cancelling my op for the 4th time.

BECAUSE THEY DESERVE TO BE PAID MORE!!! you do realise people salaries are based on what they do right? So a worker in asda isn’t going to earn more than a consultant.

Come on man please use some common sense, please tell me did you do a levels? Did you do an admission test? Did you go to medical school? Did you specialise? No you didn’t

Sounds like greed to me. I mean the average salary in the uk is about 25k out of london and they earn 5 x that before this salary increase they're after.

I wouldn't be opposed to paying them more but if they cancel every operation what are we even paying them for on the first place.

Like I said the consultants that cancelled you appointment didn’t cancel it so they can go for a cup of tea. Do you even know what their working hours are like? This is why when I graduate medical school I’m going to jump straight into the private sector

And the only doctors that earn 125k + are the top level consultants and that’s after working and training for 15+ years. So again please do your research. Junior doctors earn around 25~30k a year and do you think that’s the salary they deserve?

Junior doctors maybe but look at the bbc article again. A new consultant with 0 years experience is on a whopping 93k

Of course, the British have a big self-entitlement attitude and always want more, more and more without wanting to pay for it. They want a free health service and this is what you get, but they complain, complain and complain about the mediocrity. You would think by now they would of worked out by now why it is ****, it is time to look at the German model.

Erm...NHS isn't free, it actually works out cheaper getting private health care. I've paid a fortune in to it over last 20yrs...

How lovely that you demonstrate such empathy - not!

There is no need to be so rude and dismissive.

What the hell have I been paying my NI for 15 years for if I can't get a simple operation done in due course.

How much NI have you paid?

Read the whole thread ok….. how am I being dismissive? I’m just confronting this persons lies and lack of understanding. This person was saying that they don’t deserve to strike, what kind of comment is that?

Yh whatever, and the person that says healthcare workers can’t strike doesn’t get criticised

The most moronic argument ever. Why is it that whenever the question of healthcare comes up, so many people immediately resort to "it's better than America"? How about every other healthcare system in every other comparable country in the world? Why is it that nobody else in the world has this rotten NHS system, and yet they almost all pay less and have better health outcomes? Moreover, I don't think you will find another country on earth where the healthcare system has the status of a national religion, where it is revered and its workers given beatified status purely from working within it.

The NHS is one of the worst things about Britain, one of the things holding the country back, healthcare has to change, and it cannot do this whilst we are using the most absurd model on earth.

I feel for you.

The NHS is rubbish and is the perfect encapsulation of a system that cannot work properly. It's essentially a food bank for healthcare, except you have to pay top dollar for it.

I'm not saying the don't deserve to strike, I'm saying they shouldn't be allowed because it putting people health at an unnecessary risk and prolonging struggle of those that need operations.

Just beacuase they can strike doesn't mean they should.
