I’ve accepted my choice for county college standard en suite room. However I’ve realised that it is in the John creed building which I have heard to be terrible in terms of looks, location, social aspects and that the flats only have 3 to 4 people per kitchen? Is this true and if so is it possible for me to move to somewhere else.

Hi there, I am sorry to hear that you are concerned about your accommodation. I am a fourth year Lancaster University student and have stayed in the John Creed rooms before. The rooms are very nice, similar to other rooms on campus an county is a great college to be in for social life. Truthfully I have found that on campus a lot of the accommodation is pretty similar with the biggest difference being whether you have an ensuite. However if you are concerned I would recommend dropping an email to the Lancaster University accommodation officers at [email protected]. Perhaps if you are worried about size of flats and social life it would be worth enquiring about the country town houses, although these are usually very popular. I hope this helps Esme (Lancaster University Student Ambassador)

Hi Anon,
Whilst I’ve never I am stayed in John creed I’d say it’s in a pretty good location. County is located at the north of campus and is only a 5 minute walk to the centre of campus. Campus itself is a manageable size, only being about a 20 min walk end to end and so everything is in walking distance on campus regardless of where you need to get to. I have been at the university for 5 years and haven’t heard anything bad about the accommodation. I am unsure how many people live in each flat in John creed. I would suggest emailing the accommodation team as suggested above. Hope that helps!

Hi Anon,
I have just found this on the website. “Bowland Hall and County's John Creed Building see groups of 3-4 students sharing flats in the smaller houses. Six people share the flats with the bigger beds.” So it seems that if you are in John creed you may only have 3 or 4 people to a flat. You could always meet people in lectures, societies etc. the people in your flat will not be your only chance to socialise at uni.
