Clifton Hill House- Uni of Bristol

I just got my accommodation offer and I have gotten Clifton Hill House as my accommodation. What are people's thoughts on the accomm? Is the catering good there? Also, majorly, what's the social scene like, as I really wanted a hall with great social life/parties, etc? I have also heard its one of the fairly posher (kinda 'rah' type) halls, which in all honesty, I dont mind at all!

I'm not sure about the rooms, they looked quite dated in the pictures but hopefully, it was just poor lighting. Anyway, would appreciate anyone giving some insight on their experiences of CHH!

Obviously this is an old post, but I just got CHH as my accommodation and was wondering what you thought of it! I haven't found much on it recently so am interested to have a more recent opinion of it, particularly social life and the food

Hi there, my experience is from a couple years ago but here are my two cents

Food is outsourced, but there is a good variety- a meat, vegetarian and vegan option always available plus a salad bar and dessert. It's not all in all too bad, and it is well packed with nutrients. I liked the food there. Breakfasts are full-English (or your choice of whatever elements), plus cereals, yoghurt, pastries etc.

As for social life, it really is what you make of it. I got involved in societies, made friends in many flats and I had a very sociable experience. Conversely other people I knew kept more private, so you have so much flexibility over social life!

It's a good accomm overall, but having known people in certain newer blocks of the accomm, the rooms are a bit small.

thank you so much for the insight! I'm definitely planning to join a few societies so hopefully that's all good. for rooms I'm in old Clifton so I think that means I've got a biggish room?

No problem! Old Clifton has two parts, in Callander Hall and the house itself. Both of which, AFAIK, have fairly large rooms with high ceilings- almost rivalling its neighbours at Manor Hall haha

Hi there! C24 I believe is in Fry Building which is the biggest and among the newer facilities of CHH! The rooms are decent sized however not renovated, unlike the South Block rooms (which are also far smaller).

It depends if you're in Fry or South Building (you can tell if the accomm portal says whether or not your room has a basin or not)! D south has smaller but more modern rooms with a basin, whereas D Fry has larger, slightly older rooms without basin IIRC
