Help! Panicking! I may have mistakenly taken slightly too many paracetamol

Ok, Im pretty ill with sinusitis and my heads like cotton wool, and Im just trying to work out what painkillers I took since about 8pm Thursday evening, and I cant bloody remember exactly...Freaking out in case I took 2 500g tablets more than the 8 in 24 hours. Would this be dangerous?

If in any doubt with paracetamol please ring NHS 24 for advice. It affects everybody differently.

Your probably fine, it wont affect you that much. Still ring NHS Direct phone line for some advice.. Drink plenty of water though

I highly doubt this would have any negative effect, just don't take any more for a few hours...
Oh, and I hope you mean 500mg, not 500g... :P:

Of course you'l be fine. I've always take 3 paracetamol at a time and i'm still fine, and i do that even when i'm gonna be taken them all day,

Yep 500 mg would be right. I know most people will be stating you should be fine but paracetamol can be a nasty drug on the liver and it would be wise to just double check. No harm in that.

Assuming you mean 500mg tablets (which, of course, you do). You will be absolutely fine. I regularly take more than the specified dose if I'm feeling really cack. If anything it will make you feel better. :smile:

If you had taken, say...20 over 24 hours, it might be worth ringing the doctor, but you should relax, two extra in that period is nothing.

We dont have that in Ireland...just called my local hospital, they were like ahh you'll be grand! just dont take anything til 11am tomorrow!

I hope this is safe advice to follow!

if you were extremely worried and still had it in your stomach you could drink lots of salt water to make you throw up.

but if you're still ok now then it's a good sign. just have a day off painkillers or something.

Then you are an idiot my friend and I say that without humour. In theory if you took 3 at at time every 4 hours for 24 hours you would have taken 12 which is a 1/3 rd more than recommended.

I am sure a medic will be along soon to comment on the dangers of paracetamol.
