Here to support anyone applying if I can! I can't believe it's 9 years ago since I went to uni to study SLT, nearly 10 since I applied! So things have probably changed a bit. But feel free to ask me about what it's like working as an SLT too

Hello! I'm looking into an apprenticeship degree with my employer - I've been told about the 6 questions that are scored in the university interview (my previous uni interview was not the same as this!) so do you have any advice on what these questions look like to feel a bit more prepared? Many thanks.

Hi! I received an unconditional offer for Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh last week, and still waiting to hear from Strathclyde! Has anyone else applied to these universities?

Hi,
Studying at Greenwich has been great so far and it was very flexible in first year. The lecturers are very knowledgable and supportive. We would have lectures Mon, Tues and Thurs and Wednesday and Friday off.We had placement at the start of feb till end of May where this is one day only on a Wednesday for first year.I had a part time job during first year so it is very flexible. Before staring, I would recommend you developing both your knowledge of adult SLT and paediatrics and understanding the mechanism of swallowing difficulties and the IDDSI model. Also, SLT is also expanding in mental health so also make sure you read upon that aswell.

Hi, thank you for replying. In terms of tutorials/lecture sizes, how large are the classes, and how many people are in your year/get accepted into the course per year? What could I do to prepare myself to study SLT throughout the summer holidays?

I got rejected (based on qualifications) it took around two weeks to get the response but I applied in November so it wasn't as busy. At the open day they said they don't do interviews as part of the entry process anymore it's solely on qualifications and an personal statement

Has anyone heard from Sheffield yet?
Also, does anyone know what the year 1 timetable is like? Is placement in blocks etc?

Email Sheffield and ask them if you can see a copy of this year's timetable or ask about this is you are invited to an offer-holder day.

Hi, I am in Year 12 studying alevel psychology, geography and philosophy + ethics (basically rs). For majority of my life ive always wanted to be a childrens nurse but for the past couple of months i have been interested in speech and language therapy. If i were to be applying through ucas for speech and language therapy next year i would put City, university of london as my firm due to the fact that its the closest uni to me that does this course. However i have my doubts of applying to this degree because of my gcse grade (6 in eng lit, 4 in eng lang). So im always thinking if theres any point of me even thinking of applying for speech and language therapy if im just going to get rejections whereas with children nursing, i know i can happily apply for that degree (grade 7 in maths, 6-6 in double science). I know that unis mostly focuses on your alevels and your predicted grades but i dont know if im just ovethinking this because of my eng lang grade. Im really interested in both speech and language therapy and childrens nursing.

Hey,
Im not an expert, but hopefully its useful
The city entry requirements are English language 4. There are some variations in entry requirements for the course at different universities, but they generally require a GSCE English Language grade 4 as minimum from what I've found when looking. So you'd meet that requirement. Just double-check all the entry requirements.
You could do nursing and then go onto a masters in Speech and Language Therapy if you choose too

Thank you so much! I never thought of me doing a bachelors degree in children's nursing then doing a masters in speech and language therapy. I will look into that !!

No problem.
It's definitely a good way of pulling two career pathways and I think nursing would help with the masters too
