i applied via clearing for it at city and they rejected me again. i had an interview in january and got rejected because of the interview but now
they said according to our admissions team because you applied in main cycle for the same programme and was unsuccessful at interview. A Clearing application cannot be accepted unfortunately.

Hi,
So I was looking at this a while back and found on the UCLan SLT course page that they charge £2,500 for placements. I was hoping to find my own placement. I was completely unaware that the extra tuition fee would not be funded. I may have to rethink my decision of going. https://www.uclan.ac.uk/study/fees-and-finance/uk-students

Yeah I think that was a while back when the course first started.. I think they charged £9250 for the course and then the extrafor for the placements. But nowadays it’s just the whole course fee is £11,000.

Hi, I finished my English language and linguistics degree in 2023 and I’m looking to study a Speech and Language Therapy MSc in 2025.
I know this is a 2024 thread but I’m just looking for some advice on when is the best time to apply? I’m applying to LBU, MMU and UCLan. I’m not sure all 2025 applications are open yet, but if anyone applied to these uni’s I would appreciate the advice. Thank you 🙂

Hiya! Can help out with UCLan..

I think UCLan applications open in like November time- and deadline is March time (deadline will be specified on the course webpage on their website). Lara year they held one interview date per month from January til summer time .. if you want to interview early and therefore find out if you have a place early then get in as soon as you can and interview in Jan.. but I wouldn’t say that necessarily gives you any advantage .. I know people who only applied just before deadline and interviewed in last session (July/August) and still got an offer.. so do it when you feel ready. I spose it could be that you have a better chance the earlier you go as they do make offers straight after each interview session to those who score highly enough.. if you score average you’ll be put on a waitlist until they’ve interviewed more people.. this may vary year on year I spose but I’m not sure. Good luck with your applications!

Have you managed to get any shadowing experience with an SLT? Try to get this before you apply.

Hey, I’m currently a first year at the University of Manchester so I’m very aware of the more current interviews/struggles with personal statements so if you have any questions I’d be more than happy to help 😁

Hi any tips on writing a personal statement?

I know it's a bit of a long shot, but

By son who is 4, needs help. I feel students (even first years) are probably better than what the NHS offers. Does anyone know any person or establishment than can help over the phone, even with little experience. Thank you

Hey, you're probably better reaching out on a Speech therapy forum where qualified Speech Therapists are, there is one on Facebook if you search.
Students are learning and they wouldn't be able to give you the scope of advice you are possibly looking for. A lot of private practices will happily offer you a telephone consultation to discuss concerns/needs. They are also on those groups as well. Hope you find some support

Hi any tips on writing a personal statement?

Hey there 😁

Be sure to talk about your passion for speech and language therapy, whether it’s a personal experience or an event that inspired your interest. Share your understanding of the role, including what excites you the most about it. Explain why you’re a good fit by highlighting relevant subjects you’ve studied, any work or volunteer experience that helped you develop key or transferable skills, and how these tie into your career goals in SLT.

Make sure your statement reflects your personal journey and is unique to you, so you can truly stand out. One extra tip: keep your paragraphs short and easy to read. It’s better to have more concise paragraphs than long, overwhelming ones, which can easily disrupt the reader’s focus.

I hope it was helpful 💪 Feel free to reach out if you have any questions 😉 You can also chat with me or other students directly through The Ambassador Platform.

Take care,

Hi @Ash0703,

It's great to see that you are looking to study MSc Speech & Language Therapy next year and that you will be applying to study as UCLan. In terms of when to apply, as this course is very competitive I'd recommend you apply as soon as you can, the application deadline for September 2025 entry is Friday 28 February 2025.

You can learn more about the course here but if you do have any further questions, I'd be happy to help 😊

Best wishes,
Sarah
