Hello PA applicants. I’m a year 1 PA in study if anyone has any questions or help relating to the course more than happy to help. Good luck 😁
I assume you are finished or nearly finished so I wanted to ask you with regards to everything happening right now and the controversies and bad rep physician associates are getting how is it? I really want to become a physician associate but I’m starting to rethink my decision because of the negativity I’m seeing online and in the media. I’m a third year biomedical science student and it's really worrying me.

If you are worried, why don't you take a gap year after uni and work as a care asst or HCA. This will give you both valuable work experiece and some savings to fund the course - it also gives you more time to see how things settle down. PA's are very much in the NHS longterm workforce plan (see online) but you still need to consider what is right for you

Yes I was planning to take a gap year after uni to get some work experience. I feel like up until this point in my life I've often rushed into things so I wanted to take a year out to really think things through and earn some money. I'll defo look into working as a care assistant or HCA after I graduate. Thank you 🙂 ❤️

I wouldn’t recommend doing this course. Absolute shambles! After all that hard work, we don’t have a job. Government doesn’t care nor the university. Luckily I didn’t pay fees to be in debt.

When gmc regulation will come into place in December 2024, things will start to change. Stop writing messages like this

I have said this before, having considered it myself. There are not enough jobs for PAs in the UK, and it is going to take time for the new government to fix. A PA MSc course takes two years to complete, and is poorly funded. There is a real risk of being unemployed for a long time after graduation.

I am guessing you have a job.
It’s more easy for someone with experience . It’s a different situation for the newly qualified. Doctors unite together for any of their crisis. Employed PAs doesn’t like to talk about this and unemployed ones are on their own.
I do not wish this situation for even my enemies. I request all employed PAs -Don’t feed prospective students with lies !
GMC regulation is good for current employed PAs. There are no actions taken for unemployment. Period

I don’t have a job lol. I’m still yet to do the physician associate course for 2 years. There will be jobs available once gmc regulation comes into place

Well… good luck then. I am not here to advice but raise awareness.

I don't think you can know for certain things will change with regulation. Everything is uncertain it doesn't mean you should or shouldn't do the course. Jobs may become available but scope of practice for PAs may reduce. There is uncertainty right now. That's the reality and we are unclear if regulation will change this.

They won’t be regulated for 2 yrs. until then the gmc register is voluntary
