No post for last week because I felt absolutely terrible, and it's only really getting worse. Person from post 40 has won the contest and is currently my biggest problem. It's bordering on harassment now.

As for new physics teacher, still trying to like her, still don't. Meltdowns in physics are becoming an increasingly common occurrence. I might just give up and teach myself module 5 (what she's teaching) after TMUA is done with. She just brags about her previous workplaces, how her students got full marks in physics, and then sits there reading from the textbook. If you're such an expert why don't you just teach? 🤔 Something's not adding up.

Sorry to hear things aren’t looking too great at present.

I would definitely encourage you to finish TMUA and teach yourself module 5 as this teacher does not sound like she is helping you at all. I found ZPhysics, Physics Online and Gorilla Physics to be of some use.

Thankfully my actually half-decent teacher (who I do have a couple of gripes with, but who at least teaches) is teaching module 6 which is the one I find difficult. Module 5 seems pretty doable as it's topics I'm quite interested in anyways, so I think after I do TMUA in 2 weeks(!!!) I'll just redo it myself. If I had a penny for every subject I had to teach myself despite having a teacher I'd have two pennies, which isn't a lot but it's weird it happened twice.

Sometimes if I don't move for too long after school all the lights start turning off around me... Interesting vibe. And also the photo is upside down for some reason.

It's all one building for both secondary and sixth form. And there have been lockers in every secondary school and sixth I've ever attended or visited. 🤔

✨UCAS? Done it mate✨
Sorry for the lack of posts over the last few weeks, it's been really rough and I just haven't been in a state to do a proper post.

TMUA is on Wednesday AAAAAAAAAA-

Nah like seriously I'm so scared help 😭

As of today I've officially submitted my UCAS application, now we wait for (hopefully) interviews and offers. Ended up multitasking by Teams messaging my referee and correcting errors while also literally being in the cinema watching a film, because today was just weird like that. I watched The Creator, and I actually liked it way more than I thought I would.

Had a hospital appointment today, which means it's ✨pharmacy time✨ aka time to wait 3 hours standing up (because there are obviously not enough seats) for my new prescription while also in moderate to severe pain because I'm pretty sure the coffee shop lied to me and the 'lactose-free milk' wasn't really lactose free. Good thing I only had 1 lesson today (that they managed to schedule the appointment in the middle of, by the way).

The karma continues! The people who did absolutely no work last year are now realising that year 13 is hard. One guy in particular who has rich parents and explicitly plans on buying his way into a university abroad has done absolutely 0 work over the last year and a bit. Never turned in a single piece of homework, never done 1 hour of studying. Failed all mocks but was still allowed to do year 13. Enter our end of topic test on capacitors in physics, which is made of past paper questions that can also go into other topics like latent heat and density. It's also made to be really easy if you just do like 50% of the set revision tasks. Anyways, this test had him walking out and dropping physics on the spot halfway through. We might actually be able to focus on stuff now.

Anyone know when the Cambridge SAQ form is meant to turn up in my inbox?

Yeah the thing about being a STEM-specialist sixth form is that all the rich parents want their kids to go there because STEM = more money. The lower school is much more evenly spread out, but the sixth form definitely has a very high proportion of rich kids and it can be quite difficult not to feel alienated when so many people are just out of touch with reality.

Is it only stem subjects allowed? As in can't choose any other type of subject.

Used to be, yeah. We do now offer some others like Business, Art, DT, English Language/Literature and Sociology (though that's still technically a science), but nobody's actually taken them in years. Basically the point of a UTC is that it's geared towards STEM and has really good industry connections and facilities for STEM subjects like BTEC Engineering, A-level sciences etc. Most people come here for those facilities and connections in those subjects, so although we do now offer a couple of non-STEM subjects the ultra-specific demographic of our students (STEM obsessed, want to be engineers or scientists, usually not great with humanities) just means they're not very popular. The option is there though if anyone wants it.

It's definitely going better than it was in the beginning. My goal is to have all the past papers done by Wednesday and maybe repeat a couple, though it's been pretty hard as TMUA prep burns me out really quickly, about 3x faster than regular A-level related stuff.

Yeah, preparing for stuff burns you out even if it’s a subject you really enjoy.

Normally in the time I've been preparing for TMUA I could do every past paper for any one of my A-levels twice, and here I am not even done with the first round yet 😭

Yeah idk what it is, I can revise normally for everything and not get burnt out. I think it’s because preparing for these tests or interviews is challenging and that kind of puts u off doing it especially when u can’t do a lot of the questions yourself, that’s just me though.
