Hello,

Is anyone able to please confirm how closely the practice tests on the civil service website (for numerical, wbs etc.,) reflect the real tests on the application? I have tried the practice tests and they seem all right. But are they an accurate reflection of the actual tests?

I think they're a pretty good reflection. The actual tests are obviously longer but it's the same kind of thing

Ah you meant the WBS, I thought you got an invite to the Assessment Centre/"Extra Information" step (whatever that one is). Yeah they were super hard for me too, I thought some people were getting advanced through them this quick and Id torpedoed my chances already.

Hello, I agree, they are rather hard and I dislike the fact they have to be evaluated independently of each other. For me at least when I have to rank them in relation to each other it becomes a bit clearer to see what would rank where. Do you have any insights or feedback you think would be helpful to share from having done the tests?

Other than repeating what FishKillFun said about reading the level 3 success profiles not much. It sounds like you already sat the WBS? If not then I'd say dont worry about having to think of each question independently, there wasnt much of a "you do option A for question 8 and in question 12 its the fallout", most of the questions werent really about the actions taken just loosely related. Again remember any "Effective" solutions have to be genuinely proactive and comprehensive and e.g. just sending an email isnt even "Partly Effective"

Thank you that is very reassuring. I have not done them yet. What I meant in terms of 'relation' is that within the same question, I would have to rank the answers between them. In this case, two answers could theoretically be effective within the same question as they are meant to be evaluated independently of each other which I have not encountered in other SJTs. Again, thank you for your insight and best of luck!

Has anyone gotten any feedback/reports back after completing the Work based scenarios? I just completed mine and would like to know how long it takes to get an idea of how I’ve done in them

Has anyone got Policy as their first choice and still haven't had their WBS unlocked? I got above average in both the SJT and Numerical, and average in the Work Style Questionnaire. My exercises expired on the 23rd October. Wondering if anyone has had them unlocked for Policy?

My guess is anyone who isn't in the 'Currently working for the Civil Service and/or did the Placement with them' won't have it until mid-November at the earliest.

Was Policy your only one?

I've got Policy as my first choice and my WBS is still locked - I did the tests a few days ago tho. I got above average on WSQ and Numerical, and average on SJT.

I've got policy as my first choice, commercial as second, project delivery as third and operational delivery as fourth. I completed my first round of tests on the 26th October. WSQ: alot of alignment SJT: average Numerical: higher than the majorityMy WBS opened on the 2nd November and I completed them today. It could be that my WBS opened because I hit the threshold for a lower choice since my results weren't the best.

Anyone else feeling well and truly humbled by the WBS?

Not yet. When did you get your results?

If you haven't, yet, then there's no reason to be humbled.

I also have policy as my first, and have the same results for the online tests, I guess my chances of getting in isn’t looking good

I wouldn't count yourself out, yet. There are a whole host of people applying and we won't even know the true averages for a week.(It closes in 3 days and then the first averages will come out 4 days after that).

Those who applied early on are inevitably those who studied, watched and waited for it to open up and so their scores will inevitably be higher.

Ha, I like your positivity! The experience of taking it was humbling enough, I suspect the results will be either devastating or delightful

Don't worry too much. That test is a killer for everyone. It's the SJT test, but harder.

The only advice they give you is to study the Behaviours for Level 3 SEOs, but some of those behaviours are interfere with one another and you're stuck thinking, "Okay... So this is either partially resolving this because you're developing relationships or it's completely counter. Or maybe ineffective. I'm just guessing at this point."

Let us make this pact that the moment we hear about this, we will get on here.

I suspect we won't hear for at least a week and possibly two at this point.

once you’ve passed through each round, do previous scores count towards your selection for the next level? ie. now I’ve completed WBS, will they consider my online tests when inviting me to additional info? Or is it now disregarded, and they will look only at my WBS scores?
