Thankyou for the thread. People who have applied before or have more information. Which scheme do you think is best for someone who has got a mathematics degree.

If you have a lot of stats modules I'd say Government Statistical Service. If you have some modelling / like puzzles and problem solving I'd recommend GORS (Government Operational Research Service).
Depending on the department you work in, once you are in the job it is fairly profession blind. I'm doing a very OR job at the moment (modelling telephony services using discrete event simulation software) but have previously worked on all stats teams (other than me).

Did you definitely get the WSQ feedback? (Also how did you do?)

I have received feedback for all 3 tests. Did them all this evening during a library sesh

That's pretty awesome. Which streams did you apply for?

Does anyone know how accessible the Work Based Scenarios are? Do they eliminate a lot of people between the online tests and the work based scenarios?

My 1st preference is Government policy and I got above average on the numeracy test (but did it on the 13th so less people beforehand to base the comparison on) and have just seen that I got "demonstrated moderate capability" at the SJQ test, so I am wondering if I'll be able to redeem myself or if I need to prepare myself for rejection now.

damn. Well done. I scored below average on mine. I'm not really sure why. As someone who got above average, what was your logic/basis when answering the SJT's?

I now have feedback for work style questionaire!
**EDIT** results are for SJQ not the work style.. false alarm**

"demonstrated good capability to make appropriate judgements in
situations that involve other people. In this respect your performance on this
assessment was in the above average range compared to other applicants. Such a
capability is an important foundation in developing the necessary people
management skills to succeed on the Fast Stream."

Unsure how to interpret this, as the next line says "though you performed well in this assessment, your judgment in this area might be
enhanced further by making sure that you fully reflect on what decision is most likely
to bring others with you"

still have "Work based scenarios - locked"

Thankyou statistical service is my firsy choice and GORS is my second. I will take what ever to be honest and then work through them. Thankyou for the advice. How do you find your work. X

Got my SJQ feedback too. Dont understand the wording much to see how i did. I did average on the feedback and then on development feedback it says "although u did well in this assesment it can be enhanced further by making sure how your decision effect others"

Huh, I have feedback for SJQ but not work style

I have feedback, too, on SJQ but not Work Style. Don't worry about it.

I love it. As I'm doing analysis that directly feeds into operational decisions, I feel like I'm making a real difference. My department has a huge variety of analysis work available, and it's easy to move around to different roles within policy analysis, operational analysis, surveys, etc. Very friendly teams too, at least in my personal experience.
One thing I would say, is don't discount the possibility of applying for mainstream as well as fast stream. If you are good, it is still possible to move on as quickly as a fast streamer, and mainstream often get paid more. There are pros and cons with both. Again, once you are in, no one cares whether you are mainstream or fast stream, you are doing the same jobs.
The advantage of FS is the structured program, and the fact that you move roles every year, and have the chance to make grade 7 within three years. The advantage of mainstream is the flexibility, the fact that you can move roles/ departments when you are ready, and that you are often better paid than a fast streamer at the same grade.

What was your feedback?

Reply 171

Ahh… my SJQ feedback was average (moderate capability). That’s a shame, I’m not feeling too confident on the work style results 😅

Reply 172

Got my SJQ interpersonal skills feedback. Feeling optimistic! Good luck everyone!

Your responses to the Situational Judgement Questionnaire focusing on interpersonal skills demonstrated good capability to make appropriate judgements in situations that involve other people. In this respect your performance on this assessment was in the above average range compared to other applicants. Such a capability is an important foundation in developing the necessary people management skills to succeed on the Fast Stream.

Hey!
I have all of my first stage results now:
Numerical - Same as most
SJQ - Above Average
WSQ- Mostly Aligned(not sure if this is good or bad 😅)

I applied for HR, DDAT and project delivery the day applications opened and completed the tests the next day.

Reply 174

Got all three too .

Numerical and SJQ both above majority but work style questionnaire got less than majority and scenarios still locked , I guess that’s it then ?:frown:

Hi everyone  I’m a non graduate Civil Servant (currently AO) applying for the Fast Stream for the first time.

I’ve applied for:
Digital, Data, Technology & Cyber
Project Delivery
Human Resources
Operational Delivery

Not sure how competitive each is so the order may not be ideal in regards to that, but it is in order of my actual preferences.

I’ve now got feedback for all 3 tests showing:

WSQ - “Your performance indicates that the way you prefer to approach your work tends to match the Fast Stream role requirements more than the majority of other applicants”

SJQ - your performance on this assessment was in the the above average range compared to other applicants”

Numeracy - “your performance on this assessment is higher than the majority of people who previously took the test”

Not too sure how good these results are in terms of giving me a good chance going into the Work Based Scenarios, I had hoped for better than the majority on all 3. Work Based Scenarios are still locked for me.

Does anyone have any advice or experience regarding the Work Based Scenarios and what you expect? Any tips on how to prepare?

Any advice is really appreciated and good luck to everyone applying this year!

I finally got all of mine as well
WSQ - a lot of alignment
SJQ - good capacity
Numerical - good capability

From the previous forums, I think strong alignment and strong capacity/high range are the best responses

Reply 177

I didn’t realise the first part regarding alignment/capability etc was different actually yeah, I’d focussed on the relative to other applicants feedback more.

Mine were SJQ - good capability / WSQ - a lot of alignment / Numeracy - good capability

Glad to see so many people getting good results on here so far

Reply 178

Wonder why I’ve only got numeracy results back

Wonder why I’ve only got numeracy results back

Others I know who have applied at the same time as me only have numeracy or numeracy and SJQ results too. I think it depends on when you completed the tests, what streams you’ve applied for and just when they get round to marking it. I wouldn’t take anything from it in regards to how well you’ve done
