Does anyone know the greek theatre 2023 questions? would really help
1) about costumes from the choregos vase [10 marks] 2) about how Sophocles makes a passage exciting [10marks0 3) sight and blindness and how it makes oedipus the king a successful play [20marks] 4) two options; how important the gods are to greek theatre with reference to atleast 2 plays and i cant remeber the other one but its about aristophanes frogs. the 1 markers were about the vase and oedipus, lmk if you want me to be more specific

Hello! I'm studying classics at a-level and am currently in Y13

The mods I do are: World of the Hero (Odyssey and Aeneid), Greek Art, and Politics of the Late Republic.
Im persuing classics at degree level and I am totally willing and able to help with anything if asked

meanwhile: My most hated activity is finding critical/scholar quotes for the epics. If anyone has a good list for the Aeneid i would be eternally grateful!!

Avēte!
I don't have a set list as of yet but I recently found this website which include articles from scholars you can use - I think they're all free to my knowledge to look at:

omg thank you so much - my mocks are next week so this has saved me!!!!
also for the 20m, do you have to talk about other themes as well, saying how instead they were more important to the success of the play.

in regards to the 30m, do you talk about the role of gods in the plays eg. Apollo sending the plague in Oedipus or is it role of gods in general to theatre? xx

the question basically says "sight and blindness are a key theme to the success of the play. To what extent do you agree?" something like that- you can talk about more themes but i mostly agreed (so did most the people i know). its always useful to mention something else like role of the gods or something to help prove your argument (sight and blindess are key to the success). Also talk about what is the success- does it improve plot/characters etc. I was told to talk about physical blindness and sight not metaphorically- so dont talk about oedipus not knowing something so hes blind- talk about how he physically actually blinds himself
For the 30m, you talk about how important they are to greek theatre, so to ANY of the plays (you have to atleast reference 2) so you can say they are important because in frogs dionysus is the main character and therefore drives the plot of the play. or you can say they arent, because in oedipus they are barely mentioned (you could say their existence is implied by the plague and oracles which is what i did) xx

I also have spaces available for private tuition if you're looking for something longer term/more structured.

I don't know the exact wording of the questions because I've only read people talking about them, but these are the WOTH ones. I don't know about Greek art except that the Delphic Charioteer was used as the first source question

Aeneid 20 marker was about Turnus (whether or not he deserved to die) and 30 marker was about the role of fate

Odyssey 20 marker was about mortal women (something along the lines of how Homer presents good mortal women). I'm not too sure about the specifics of the 30 marker because I can't find anyone who has explicitly said what it was but it was something about the complexity of the plot and of Odysseus' character (maybe how Odysseus' character reflected the complexity of the plot???)

Does anyone know where i can find the world of the hero 2023 past paper or does anyone know the questions they asked?
Hi

I am afraid I don’t know where to find the past paper. But I have recently done the mocks and the 2023 paper come.
. "How are mortal women expected to behave (20 M) - Odyssey
Passage come from Book 12, where Juturna, comes down, just before Turnus death

Was Turnus death deserved (20 M) - Aeneid

The comparison question was Helen, Penople and Juturna who endures the most. (10M)

Odysseus character is as complex as the narrative (30M)

Aeneid - was something about fate.

Hope this helps. I am afraid, I don’t do Iliad questions

oh thank you this has reassured me a lot! ive done the same plato as you, which is your favourite?
my teacher is just… a bit slow with teaching us and is never consistently in which is quit hard for us but oh well!
i also didnt realise you ad to quote sappho properly, that’ll stress me out a bit but i think as long as i have the key themes i should be okay… hopefully!
yeah, and i've also found out that you may have to quote ovid too because those are prescribed texts from the exam boad. also sorry i've replied to you after a month i just stopped using tsr!
i do like symposium it's quite interesting, Phaedrus and the soul is actually a really easy concept to just drop in your exam
