Hi there, congratulations on your grades, it is nice to hear that you want to improve your grades and I'm sure there are plenty of opportunities for this over the next years.

I am a third year law student at the University of Kent, hope I can answer your question. For second year, I did feel that it was more difficult than first year, so I would recommend spending more time on studies compared to first year.

One tip that I found useful for second year was to start early on your assignment, leaving time for research, drafting and checking your work before submission. Depending on the modules you are taking, time management and starting your assignments early on will be quite important. I recall being really over crowded with deadlines towards the end of each term. (Many students had to prioritise 30 credit modules over 15 credit modules as they started late). Perhaps you can also leave time to ask others to check over your work and give you advice, though just be aware of the chances of plagiarism.

I think you can look for sample answers for specific modules to reference the answering style and structure. You can also reach out to your course's support services (depending on your University) to get advice on academic styles of writing.

Hope this helps.
