Thanks, and our French assistant has arrived so I'll be speaking to her this Friday which should help with my confidence too!

For my literature coursework I've decided to look at the passing of time which I'm finding interesting, but it's a bit of a challenge to find context/critics for!

Great you've got the extra support from the French assistant. And that is such a cool topic to be exploring! What texts will you be looking at?

Thanks! That topic was the first one I came up with but I've just stuck with it haha
The two novels I'm doing are Cloud Atlas and Atonement (chosen by our teacher) but I'm really enjoying them! Luckily for me I actually read Cloud Atlas last year before I found out I was doing it for coursework so I was super excited to get started and I think it's important to enjoy doing the coursework as well because I have to keep motivating myself to write more!

Ah that's going to be so interesting, I can't wait to hear how it goes. And you're so right, it's a totally different beast when you're actually interested and enjoy what you're doing.

Hi!

Okay so I realise I haven't really posted much in this past week about how school has gone so I'm going to write down a chunk of it now!

school subject stuff

other school news

non-school stuff

That's all for now I'll post something again soon!

I actually put my hand up to answer a question in French so I'm already making a bit of progress in that department!

This is brilliant! Really well done, sounds like you're off to such a good start this year

Hi!

I'm beginning to recognise how inconsistently I update this blog, so I'll try and sort that out in the future.

Anyway, the main reason as to why I'm writing this now is because my UCAS application has been sent off!!
Well, my school/sixth form has sent my application to UCAS and I've had the email to confirm that it's been sent to my uni choices!

Hopefully I'll start getting emails from the unis about the fact that I've applied so I'll definitely post about that, and also when I (hopefully) start getting offers!

Hi!

I've received another offer! I got one from Sheffield yesterday evening!

In other news, I'm off on a trip to Paris with my 6th form tomorrow morning (the coach leaves at 5.30 am 🥲) which will be a good opportunity for me to develop my speaking! (Although I'm not looking forward to the 13hr drive down....)

Have a great week

Hi!

I've had a bit of a hectic half term week, so I'll write down a but of what I've been up to.

I enjoyed the trip to Paris, although I did only speak basic French whilst I was there. It was mainly a science trip, so I didn't always find the museums we went to particularly fascinating, but we spent an entire day at Disneyland which I loved (it was my first time there!) and this is a bit random but it reminded me that I actually really like Star Wars. I haven't watched the films in a while (although I did watch the Ahsoka series with my dad this holiday), so I've fallen back down into a little Star Wars wormhole
However...
When I got back last Sunday (at 9pm) I was talking to my parents about all the stuff I'd done and for some reason I just kept coughing and I still have the cough now and it's been a whole week

I knew that I had to get my school work done, but I also needed to rest after the trip as there were some very long days and I didn't sleep very well so for the first 3 days (Mon-Weds) I decided to just relax and watch the Star Wars Prequel trilogy, as I haven't watched them in ages and I did the occasional bit of work whilst they were on in the background
I started my French homework on Thursday morning and then met up with my friends in the afternoon, but that evening I realised that as well as the cough I was developing a cold
Genuinely can't remember what I did on Friday but probably not a lot of work
Saturday was definitely the worst day, and it was so bad that my parents essentially forbid me from doing any school work and I called in to work to say that I wouldn't be going in on Sunday
I felt better on Sunday but not enough to go into work, so I spent a nice day at home where I finished off all of my French homework, as that's all due in this week, and I started watching the original Star Wars trilogy (I haven't watched them in years)

And now we're onto today!! For me, school starts back tomorrow, so I'm using today as a final day to get coursework done, although it isn't due in for a few weeks, but I know that I'll probably end up leaving it and stressing over it so I'm finishing it off now. I'm also planning on finishing watching Star Wars today (I'm having it on in the background), so I'll probably update later today about how much work I've managed to complete!

Have a great week

Hi!

Wow, I've made it back here pretty much exactly 7 hours later!

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get everything done that I was hoping to do today, but I have made lots of progress!

I've managed to complete the first full draft of my Literature coursework, which has taken me all day so I am very tired and a bit fed up of doing it but that doesn't matter because it's done now! This morning I was on around 1880 words (minimum is 2500, maximum is 3000) and now I've made it to 2951 words by beefing up my existing points a bit more and adding in one more paragraph.

I do have some English Language homework due in on Wednesday which I haven't started yet (eek) but I'm going to tackle that tomorrow afternoon, or maybe start it this evening if I'm not too fed up with school work and then I only have to rework parts of my Language coursework as the last big deadline I have coming up!

I'll update how my homework goes tomorrow but until then have a great evening

Hi!

As it turns out, I'm actually very bad at remembering to update on here. It's been quite a while since I last posted anything, and I'm going to attribute that to the fact that I've been getting more homework, revising for a few mini tests and all of my coursework seemed to have deadlines very close to each other.

That said, I have a bit more time now (as in, this weekend) as I've spent the day so far editing my Language Original Writing coursework (I just have to add in about 25 words to meet the word count which I will do this evening) and I only have one French exercise to complete for Monday.

I keep telling myself that I'm going to do past paper questions/essays for my subjects to get them marked, but it never seems to happen as I never feel like I have enough time outside of school. Thinking about it now, I think I might start using at least one of my free periods each week to do an essay, or 3 per week but I don't know if that is then going to be too much?

If I don't get too much homework this week (or if I actually keep on top of it...) I might do a practice essay on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon, as well as one on Thursday morning just so that I don't fall out of practice.

I'll also update if I get any more uni offers, as I'm now just playing the waiting game, which has it's pros and cons as I'm not stressed out trying to complete my application but I am just sat anxiously waiting for decisions...

On that happy note, I hope you have a great weekend and a lovely week next week and I'll try my best to come back and be a bit more active

Hi!

Okay so surprise surprise, I actually haven't done any exam practice this week but...

Today I got an interview invite from Cambridge!!!

I'm very excited but it means that I now have to sit the English admissions test (next Wednesday... eek) so instead of a level practice, I'm going to try and do a few past papers of the test.

My aim is to spend 30 mins on one this evening and then finish the last hour tomorrow morning, I should have time to do one on Saturday, and one the Tuesday afternoon before the test, that should hopefully get me feeling a bit more prepared!

My actual interview isn't for another few weeks yet, so I have plenty of time to go over the work that I've submitted and the books I've mentioned in my personal statement, I'm also lucky enough to have an English teacher whose going to do a mock interview with me, and from there I'm just going to have to stay as calm as possible

I hope you have a great rest of the week
