John Locke Essay Competition

Hi, I recently got shortlisted for the John Locke Essay Competition and I’m going to the award ceremony tomorrow. I was wondering if I arrive at the given time (5:00pm) or have to arrive earlier for any registrations?

Congratulations on getting shortlisted. The organizers usually provide full instructions for attendees, but as a general rule it's usually best to arrive 10-15 minutes early to allow for any travel disruptions etc.

Can I ask what category you were? I couldn't attend but I'm DYING to know the results!
Hi, my daughter has been shortlisted this year, but the ticket price is 295 and it’s moved to London what did you think of the awards ceremony? Was it worth going?
Hi, I got shortlisted this year and last year. I am based in London but I'm not planning to go because it is so expensive and I just don't think there is much of a point. Last year, two of my friends went and they found the lectures quite boring (although this may be just us) and the awards dinner and ceremony was basically just a load of speeches. The Sunday event about admissions may be worth going to clarify some things, but if you're already sure about what you want to do in uni then it's a bit pointless.

Yep, exactly the same here. Got shortlisted last year, a massive waste of money, just not worth it to go.

HiHi! Even my essay got shortlisted this year but I am yet to receive the invite letter despite the numerous emails. I tried calling them but met the stoic response of "we will reply through email". I wonder if all this just another scam .

Exactly my thoughts. It's 2024 and yet I can't find any videos of the previous award ceremony on YT or net... I mean that is dubious if you can't find the digital footprints.

Hi Rachel... congratulations on your award. I really want to know that how was you experience as I will be attending the ceremony this year. Also, I was wondering as to why there are no official videos of the award ceremony held over the years..
