I got an offer from the university of Manchester to study computer science and mathematics. Can anyone give me any insight on how it is at UoM?

Hi,
Durham Vs Bath computer science - which one would you pick?
Can anyone help me?
How are the 2 unis compared in CS?
Durham seems to have better ranking, but location wise, I think southern location would have more opportunities in terms of jobs/internships.

Can anyone compare these 2 unis and help me deciding my option?

I think I am ok with societies, accommodation etc Overall course, teaching, department, future prospects are the deciding factors at the moment.

No. I’m expecting a rejection after all this time though.

My friend applied for Econ in November and only heard back this afternoon and he got an offer so don't worry! You still have chances.

Imperial firm and probably Manchester over Edinburgh as insurance but I'm not 100% sure.

Great choice.

What about your son? What has he chosen? Also, can I get your opinion on something? I'm tryna decide an insurance choice between Edinburgh and Manchester. Due to me not being able to attend either offer holder days due to mocks, I'm unable to make a decision on the two universities.

Would it be possible for you to inform me about your experiences at these two universities at either the offer holder days or the Open Days? Many thanks and any information is much appreciated.

If you haven't been to one of them, it's fine, you can tell me about only one of them instead. I just would like any information at all. I'm also looking into the virtual tours of the campus and YouTube videos. From what I've seen of the two cities, Edinburgh seems like the better place to live but on paper Manchester has the better course (the details on Edinburgh's website are rather vague so can't make a decision from it).

My son has firmed KCL and Southampton as Insurance. As you might remember, he was declined from Durham. He has withdrawn from Bristol as KCL was always the first preference.

Regarding your insurance choice, I don't know much tbh. I haven't been to these Unis. But on paper both Unis are strong. I am told by a friend whose son goes to Edinburgh though they live in South of England. His son went to Edinburgh purely based on Uni rankings but they told that it's not easy (to travel and live that far) and probably should have preferred any Southern based better Uni such as Warwick.

I suggest that you go for a Uni that has better syllabus (otherwise in my personal opinion both will fare nearly equally).

Having said all this, I am very confident that you will make it to Imperial. You have already passed their test and grades for Entry I think are same for both ICL and Edinburgh. ICL needs A* in Maths. So don't think too much, you will get into ICL

Hey everyone!
I'm looking to apply for Computer Science (with foundation year) starting in Sept 2025, and Northumbria is one of my top choices.

I'm applying for a Foundation as I left school after GCSEs to do an apprenticeship, however I have decided to return to education to help further my career (for context, I left school in 2021)
GCSE grades:
9 - Mathematics, Business Studies, Physics, Computer Science
8 - History, Biology, English Literature
7 - Chemistry, English Language
6 - Art

I am currently in the process of writing my personal statement, however I am having some trouble as I have no support of teachers etc.

I would be SOO grateful if anyone is able to give me a little bit of insight into the application process for foundation courses at Northumbria.

Thank you in advance xx
