That’s the first offer I’ve heard so far on here. Was it their standard offer A” A* A?

Yes, A* for Maths. Her 2 friends received offers on the same day, but with lower than standard offers. We suspect where they live, there is less people going to university, hence the lower offer. Otherwise can't think of any other reasons.

Admissions test maybe? They might have sat the MAT and absolutely smashed it. I know Warwick uses the MAT for Maths but you also have the option of asking them whether they want to see your MAT score and if they say yes, you can send it to them.

But yes, as you say, it could be to do with contextual offers...

Don't worry...Warwick does take their time because there is no admissions test to differentiate between candidates. Since there is no admissions test, it is very similar to Durham in that regard because they will wait until the applicant deadline is past before sending out the majority of offers.

The only course I know that has had lots of offers come out is Maths because they have had admissions tests (the MAT and/or TMUA).

Still waiting on Warwick 🙁

It feels like a long wait, but no news is good news. My daughter was rejected by Cambridge and then received 2 offers in the same week.

Best of luck!

Ahh that is so cool! My NEA is going OK. I have finished my testing phase and I just need a massive write-up because essentially I have neglected my documentation altogether except for my analysis, which needs tweaking ever so slightly as I found a better way to do it. I am making essentially my own chess platform, except there is no rating system nor player vs player system.

I would tell you much more the exam board prevents us from saying any more about it.

One of my friends is doing a similar thing to you but he's also got a hardware element to it. Good luck for the A*!

I too want the A* but it's not a requirement for me.

I just want to get through school with awesome grades! 9999999988 at GCSE and hopefully 5 A*s, if not close to it, in my A levels.

that sounds good bro
yh its a lot of work tbf but if you get your head down you will be good
appreciate it a lot also
to be predicted 5A*s is incredibly good im sure you definitely will achieve close to that
all the best bro

I didn't because of the drop in the rankings and I'm happy I went with Durham instead because of lower typical requirements. My other places have quite high requirements so I need some places with lower requirements so that I have some chance of going. Having said that, in retrospect, I probably should have applied there over Edinburgh or Manchester

Initially,I thought my logic makes sense (I think it still does but I'm unsure about it). My logic was that if I don't get into Cambridge or Imperial, I still want to go somewhere really really good, if not world class, for Computing, even if that meant higher UCAS tariffs.

My friend went to the Warwick Open Day and told me that the members of staff were col and rather abrupt, which was his interpretation so I didn't take it too seriously, Looking at the rankings as well, the drop suggested that there had been some massive reformation within the department that made it worse, which slightly put me off. The sledgehammer was my Computing teacher saying to me that the course was better at Edinburgh and Mnchester and I am going to choose between the three, I should go for Manchester and Edinburgh.

That left one option, which I decided should be like a lower requirement university in case I didn't get in to these universities and as an insurance option if I got my offers from the other 4 but still in the top 10 universities for Computing. That's why I chose Durham because it's A*AA, I liked the facility at the Open Day but also lower requirements (the a star is in Maths so shouldn't be too taxing).

Still waiting on Durham though, which is making me worry...loads of people have received offers for CS at Durham so I think I'm probably getting rejected. If the reason is in my control, it will most likely be my GCSEs. If not, it will probably be the competitive nature of the other applicants going for the course (if this is you, congratulations on your offer!)

Congrats! Is that going to be your firm or insurance choice? Being from Leeds, I'm sure you will enjoy your experience at this university.

I’m currently not sure I really don’t know what to pick 😅. Although it’s between Sheffield, Leeds and Nottingham.

ooooh...that's a bit of a dilemma. If I were you, I'd firm Sheffield and then choose between Leeds and Nottingham for your insurance choice. What happened with your other two options??

Did you only apply to three or were you rejected?
