How to condense notes?

This is probably a really stupid question, but HOW do you condense notes - I don't think I'm actually capable of doing it, whenever I try to I keep thinking, "Oh, well that might come up, I'll keep that."

I mean, I can make it slightly less wordy, by taking out the extra words or examples if I understand it, but my notes are still really long - especially with AS stuff :frown:

Sorry if this is a stupid question, I'm tired and trying to type up notes.

Take out every other word.

1. cross out what you know - type, and then delete all the stuff you know you know, this will be a lot of your notes
2. highlight what you really don't know!
3. err that's all i can think of...

different for each subject

I have the same problem, I can hardly leave anything out and I end up making notes three times longer than what's in the textbook, because I add information from other sources and comment on it too! :p:

I suppose it's good to condense your learning though - in the end it's what in your brain that counts, not what notes you have saved on your PC / filed away in a folder.

Thanks - those points should help. Unfortunatly they won't help with Chemistry, seeing as I'm having to learn it all before revising it on my own  But for Biology it should work.

I make a set of neat, uncondensed notes - which takes a while - and then read them over several times.
I then get coloured card to make flashcards. I write key words or formulae on them, to help jog my memory of things. Sometimes small pictures, colour coding and flow diagrams can help too. If they don't jog my memory, or if I'm unsure about something in particular, I then refer back to my neat notes.
I feel so stupid now - I've read (at last!) my chemistry specification and I can take out about 1/3 of my notes!

That's one way of condensing them lol.
no it's not a stupid question instead you are a stupid person
