I know but you cannot call it a GCSE

Ok, but I don’t understand why it matters tbh

Because your thread title is inaccurate. Not sure why you needed to post anyway ... just help people when they need it like most posters do.

The reason I created this thread is because I saw a lot of these last year and in year 10 and I found that they really helped and inspired me to do well. I really don’t understand why you’re trying to look for flaws in my post. Also, the title is accurate. If you want I can not include Further Maths and I can still say “I got all 9s in my GCSEs” since as you pointed out, Further Maths is not a GCSE.

As to helping people when they need it, if you looked at my other posts you would see that I do that a lot too. I really don’t understand why my post triggers you so much. I’m literally just trying to help and I’m allowed to be proud of something that I worked really hard for. I really don’t want to cause a fight and hope that you’ll tell me why my post angered you so it doesn’t anger anyone else or you can just leave this thread alone if you prefer

Some people might regard this thread as boastful rather than helpful ...

Ok, I understand how someone could see it that way. However, I didn’t create this thread for those people. As I said, I looked up to people who created threads like this one a couple of years ago and I loved being able to ask specific questions. I’m doing it for the people who like these threads, not the people who don’t. Nevertheless, I will add a disclaimer into my original post to make this clear. Thank you for your input

Hey, thank you so much for your tips they really helped. Can you send one of your revision schedules for a week in y11? And also did you use notes and if so for which subjects? Thx

When I said use notes, I meant did you rewrite notes from class to make them more clear and easier to revise from or did you read the textbooks, listen in class and go straight to flashcards

A lot of time is wasted writing flash cards - do questions.

You also did a lot of iGCSEs so I assume you are at a Private school. Do remember GCSEs are different [English is harder for example] so again your thread title is misleading.

Yes, I know GCSEs are different since I did a few myself. But they’re like a different exam board, they’re not a different level. Yes, maybe IGCSE Edexcel English is easier but arguing over whether GCSEs or IGCSEs are harder is like arguing whether Edexcel or AQA is harder. It’s totally irrelevant since the level is the same and universities recognise them the same as well. I personally think AQA is the easiest but universities don’t care about that because it is completely based on the school.

Also, I said in my original post that I live overseas. I’m hopping you realise that public/ state schools in other countries offer that country’s national curriculum not the UK one. Therefore, I do go to a private/ independent school. I fully understand that I’m in a very privileged position to be able to go to the school that I go to and have time and the resources to study as I know that unfortunately some people don’t.

I hope you realise that I’m not trying to be disrespectful or misleading in any way and I’m sorry that you think that.

Hi, honestly I changed my revision techniques quite a few times. In year 10 I made notes from save my exams but in year 11 I found that I didn’t have time for that. For geography I made my own flashcards as it was absolutely essential to memorise the case studies but for Science I went over the flashcards from PMT. I agree with @Muttley79 in that flashcards are very time consuming to make but I would say that they are important for memorising content. Try to find existing flashcards on quizlet. In terms of revision schedules, I’ll send you one later.

The point is the specifications are very different so you cannot give advice for GCSEs when you did iGCSE - they might be the same standard but aren't 'the same'.

I know you are trying to be helpful but you could mislead unintentionally.

This is not true at all. Trust me, I did GCSEs and IGCSEs and they are not VERY different. They are like a different exam board. The only subject that I would say is quite different is English due to the fact that we had coursework. The others are not that different. The difference between Edexcel IGCSE Biology and Edexcel GCSE Biology is the same as Edexcel and AQA. That’s like saying someone who did Edexcel Biology cannot help someone who did AQA. Also if they are soooo different then why can I go from doing Maths and Physics Edexcel IGCSE to doing A level Edexcel Maths and AQA Physics without having to learn any extra content. It’s literally the same subject, it cannot be that different. You can check the specifications if you want. Why do you feel such a need to bring me down? Would my grades be more valuable if I had done my exams in the UK?

If you have such a problem with my post, I will delete it because I’m fed up with this and don’t want to argue anymore. I’m sorry to the people it helped

hi
how did you revise for DT? and how did you find the coursework as well? i am finding the initial bits of research quite time consuming but looking forward to making a working prototype
also, any tips on creative writing in english language?
thank you

For DT I was very unlucky as I had a teacher who didn’t teach the theory at all. The best tip that I’d say is to dedicate time every week for reading through a revision guide. Either use existing flashcards or make your own and make sure you know them well. Then do past papers. My DT revision was very last minute and I didn’t start doing past papers until the week before the exam. I would not recommend this as I was very stressed. In terms of coursework make sure it is very detailed. Write an introduction and evaluation on every page and make sure there is no white space. It took me ages but was completely worth it as I was in a very good place when I got to the exam.

hi! please don't delete this post as I found it very helpful, also congrats on the grade that u got - you must've put in lots of effort
I'm currently struggling w/ english language and need help w my creative writing coursework - any tips? and could you please send your coursework and/or example essays relating to eng lang.

Also for english language (iGCSE) we have these transactional pieces that we have to complete - do you have any tips on how to structure these? I recently did a paper and got 32/45 - I feel like my vocab and language techniques are okay but I can come across as quite boring when writing a speech/article, etc. Any ideas on how to make it sound more interesting?
Thanks in advance

This is not true at all. T

The focus of the assessment is different - there much more difference than that between boards as that is managed by JCQ which ensures standards are the same.

Just give advice for GCSEs you did.

IMPORTANT EDIT: This post is not intended to be boastful in any way. I am just trying to help people get these grades because I think that if you’re reading this you absolutely can. I read a lot of these posts when I was in year 10 and 11 and I found them really helpful and inspiring which was my intention when creating this post.

Hi, I'm currently a year 12 student studying Maths, Further Maths, Physics and CS and I got all 9s at GCSE. The subjects I took this year were:
Further Maths (AQA)
English Lang (Edexcel IGCSE)
English Lit (Edexcel IGCSE)
Bio (Edexcel IGCSE)
Chem (Edexcel IGCSE)
Physics (Edexcel IGCSE)
Geography (Cambridge IGCSE)
DT (AQA)
Economics (Edexcel IGCSE)
CS (AQA)

I also had three more GCSEs from previous years:
Maths (Edexcel IGCSE)
Spanish (Edexcel IGCSE)
French (Edexcel IGCSE)

Disclaimers:
Technically Geography was an A* because I did the old spec which is graded using A*-G. For the languages I will say that I am fluent in both so I think that rlly helped me especially as I did them early. This post is not meant to brag by any means, I'm here to answer all the questions that you have about GCSEs, my study process, etc. and I will say that my grades were the product of years of intense hard work and effort.

If anyone is wondering what my best exam was in terms of percentage, it was Further Maths in which I got 98% and lost 3 marks total. I got the exact same percentage in Maths too so I think that that is my strongest subject.

A subject that I could probably give a lot of advice on is English as it did not come naturally to me and I had to work super hard in order to get the grade that I got. Unfortunately, English Lit in particular wasn't as high as I had hoped but I still managed to scrape a 9.

Please ask me any question you want. It could be related to a certain subject or just general exam advice. I hope I can help!

Hello,
Firstly well done on your grades, that’s very cool!

I was wondering if you could give me revision tips on geography, as I’m currently not doing too well!
Thank you!
