Studying medicine with mental health issues

TW (probably, Im not sure how these work - sorry)
Hi,
I am currently in year 13 and trying to decide what I want to study at Uni. One course which I have always found interesting is medicine however for the past few years I have been really struggling with my mental health to the point where I have a considerable history of self harm and have tried to end my life. School related stress has rarely been a factor in this for me but my girlfriend has pointed out that medicine may not be the right course for me especially since I am by no means out of the woods yet.
I just wondered what other people would advise. Is mh even something I should be considering when deciding unis (I dont think it matters too much but then I got myself into this mess)? Should I mention it on UCAS for medicine or is it likely to lower my chances?
Thanks.
