I always thought the same but I also think Audrey Tautou is a terrible actress in this film. She is usually very good but in that one she acts very badly. At that time Jacques Chirac was the french president, and his daughter was very good friend with Sophie Marceau. So Jacques Chirac tried to convince Ron Howard to cast Sophie Marceau instead of Audrey Tautou. I think she would have been good, although she was I think already toi old for the role.

I think he's a great actor but I agree the casting isn't great. Although, I find Robert Langdon to be a pretty cringe character in the books anyway... :shh:
