Sooo the GPhC report is available at https://assets.pharmacyregulation.org/files/2024-07/Lincoln-MPharm-and-MPharm-with-preparatory-year-reaccreditation-part-2-report-2023-24.pdf
I’ve always wanted to go there but it’s very concerning to me- they do not meet the criteria in 5 out of 7 areas, and they need to have passed in all 7 to gain reaccreditation… They had implemented changes in March for the part 2 event, but those changes still weren’t deemed sufficient enough to meet the criteria so that was extended to the action plan/probation stage which will be reviewed in October. If they meet the criteria they progress to the next step of reaccreditation (likely with conditions), and if they don’t, the course has to stop running. They should provide teach-out or transfer options for existing students (it’s not possible that a student would be left without a place in that worst case scenario). It’s a lovely school but the report says they’ve already made cuts to staff due to finances, and I have no idea how they’ll pull it off in such a short amount of time. Most of the concerns relate to placement but they are looking at increasing this massively- definitely give the report a read if you have an offer/were considering them. I also attended an open day (after they informed offer holders to go and be reassured about the re-accreditation stuff) and all the Pharmacy academic could say was “email the pharmacy email address”… this is coming from someone who was enamoured with them by the way, I was totally biased towards them🥲 offer holder day was great though and the academics I spoke to there were really wonderful, I hope it gets sorted but it seems they need time to get everything together and allocate resources accordingly etc.
McGinger (moderator) also said on another thread many students have been applying for transfer places. This has happened before with three (?) other MPharm programmes and none of them actually lost accreditation, but I haven’t looked into those as deeply (Wolverhampton, Portsmouth I think). Obviously give all the objective info a read and do some research, it’s a lovely city/camous but I personally can’t cope with the uncertainty.
I hope this helps!! Let me know if you have any more questions )
(Edit: most of the concerns apparently relate to placement and experiential learning, and they’re working very hard to implement the changes recommended- this is my personal opinion and not intended to influence others either way)

Thank you! Very helpful

Hello everyone! I’m a bit nervous because I’ve received an email from Bath “preparing for your results” basically explaining how they consider results. Does it secretly mean that I haven’t got a place? Should I start looking at clearing options? I don’t really know what else I would do, any help?

I don't think it means anything. I've had loads of those from Uni's - some that I didn't even apply for in the end. Also had some postcards in post wishing me luck and suggesting clearing.

They wont have your results until Saturday morning so you really are over-thinking this !

Is there any benefits doing a pharmacy course at an accredited university?

All UK MPharm courses are accredited by the GPhC - they have to be to call themselves MPharm.

You can only be a pharmacist if you study a MPharm. What non- accredited course are you thinking of?

Ops on the pharmacy course at Bath?

Do you mean 'Are there likely to be Clearing places at Bath'?
No - not likely. But the new Bath-run course at Plymouth Uni may have spaces.
