Gut issues run in my fam
Ive got really bad ibs
Been trying to fix it but nothing helps
I dont even go to uni or attend lectures etc i jus watch the recordings of the lectures n self teach
Idk what to do for my exams tho
I tend to manage it alright during my exams but its gotten worse since last year and idk what to do
I asked my uni they said they need a letter from my doc confirming it
What should i ask my doc i have really needed to rush to the toilet tho but incase i do i dont wanna fail my 2nd year jus bcz i didnt have the right support in place

if I have an exam and Im worried I'll need to go to the loo I take Imodium - it's helped a lot of I'm on a busy shift or at uni and the ibs kicks in! don't over use it though, only if you really need it
I am allowed time breaks if I need to go. Diet makes zero difference on my condition.

Look into SIBO (Small-Intestinal-Bacterial-Overgrowth). You can order a breath test online, its really easy. 80% of people diagnosed with IBS actually have SIBO. IBS is just a term used to categorise a particular set of symptoms when an actual diagnosis for the symptoms cannot be confirmed - but there is still always an underlying cause.

If you're interested in learning more about root causes of IBS-symptoms, research naturopathic medicine and/or look for a naturopathic practitioner in your area or who offers zoom consultations. I did this after I got nowhere with my GP or gastroenterologist and it has changed my life - as in I am actually getting my life back again!

hey, i struggle with IBS and it gets really bad during my exams. During my recent A Levels, the most important thing I did was take 2 buscopan before my exam, and I found it did help.
buscopan is a great option, because it helps reduce the contractions in your colon, which reduces the urge to go poop. i know it's really hard, and i still needed the bathroom as soon as I left an exam/right before. I would try and apply for some sort of exam arrangement if you can, that allows tou to use the bathroom during the exam.
Also, luckily I've never had this issue (but I have heard of it happening to others with IBS), but I would wear a thick pad just in case I lost control of my bowels...
