    Land Economy @ Queens'

    Hey everyone,
When seeing that loads of people were requesting to find out more about the other students who're going to Cambridge next October i decided to create a new thread just for new students. So here we go I'll start by introducing myself:

My name is Vanessa and I'm half french, half scottish. I've always lived in France and now on the Côte d'Azur (that is south-east, next to Nice) where i go to an international school called ISSA (International school of Sophia Antipolis)
I do the IB instead of A levels and i'm starting to stress coz my final exams start in 3 months and i need to make the grades for Cambridge even though my offer is lower than usual! Yay!
I have a bit of time to spare at the moment coz my 2 weeks holidays just started and i'm supposed to study for mock exams but really i'm not too motivated, i'd rather meet a few of u !
So yeah, i got an offer for land economy at Downing for october 2005, but apart from Emily who's gonna study law it doesnt seem like anyone else here got in! lol where are u hiding other hundreds of people who got offers for Downing ???
Apart from that i spend a great deal of time at school with my friends or else when i'm not at school i love:
    clubbing+pubbing=partying
    dancing+playing tennis+snowboarding+fitnessing !? (lol)=doing sport
shopping+debating (mun)+emailing=entertaining (hmm myself and other people as well i think)
laughing+smiling+shouting (of hyperness sometimes )=being me! (hmm i think i might aswell warn all of u, i'm hyper active! lol )
and to conclude definately not working!!!!!
Well now hope to hear from u guys and i'm open to any questions!
    Ciao

This thread is a great idea...

My name is Justin Hutcherson and birthday is 22-08-87
I am British, live on the N-E border of London and Essex in a town called Ilford.
I am stat school and have an offer to study THEOLOGY at JESUS COLLEGE. AAB which is lower than usual... i applied through CSAS which explains the lowering of offer.
My social life (depressingly) is arranged around my school friends. I like going out to clubs... round friends... the usual stuff. Incidently if you hear my name feel free to buy me a drink and it will be a JD.
other interests include politics (socialist), religion (quaker), riding (horses, though rarely theses days), reading (anything that isn't mills and boon).
Haven't exactly got a sporty Physique (to put it mildly), but certainly up for a laugh and not afraid of hard work... so yes i want to row.
I listen to indie, rock, punk, classical (mainly choral)... and anything else that takes my fancy!
I don't drive as yet... but am eyeing a nice cambridge style bicycle for purchase!
I want to be a barraster... or government lawyer.
I am officialy working class, and quite proud of the fact. And yes the first in my family to go to uni.

that is about it, feel free to ask questions!

    Justin

Could I suggest everyone puts their college and subject at the top of their introduction in bold? Many thanks. I will add my bit later!

You're a quaker!!?? wow i dont know any quakers....i can't remember from primary school exactly what you guys believe in! You come from a quaker family then?

And enter into rowing with caution: Although i'd recommend trying it at some point in your time at cambridge if you get in, it can become very addictive (as plenty of people on here will inform you). This leads to lots of pain and repetititve questioning yourself "Why the hell am I doing this to myself!?". It also drains your social life if you go beyond novicing and you get behind on your work. Just thought i'd warn you!

No, it won't. 13k and still going strong, with a distinct lack of "that will make you go blind, Shuai" jokes though

firstly thanks for the wow, i think i might be the only quaker undergrad at cambridge! My family is atheist, so i am a convert, a reluctant one at that

I heard all that about rowing, but if i do a sport thats how I want it to be... surely you can keep it at novice level if you want to?
