Maintenance loan over 25 and living with parent rate

Hi, I've just received my maintenance entitlement from student finance.
It states I'm entitled to £8,400. I'm presuming that this is due to me living with my mother.
I'm just wondering if this is correct as I am 29 and moved into a property with her last year. Both our names are on the tenancy agreement as well as council tax and utility bills. We don't share finances and I had previously lived alone for 6 - 7 years.
Thanks

Hi Mollie,

Yes, this is correct, based on what you've said. The Maintenance Loan is slightly lower when you live with a parent, regardless of your age.

If you move out at any point, however, let us know since that can change your entitlement.

Thanks, Graeme

Hi Graeme,
Even though I’m renting the property with her and my names on the bills and tenancy? Our money is separate so I pay my portion of the rent to the council?
Thanks

Okay, is your Mum wholly or mainly financially dependent on yourself?

Thanks, Graeme

No she works part time, but obviously depends on me to pay my part of the bills. I have my own income and until the beginning of last year had lived alone.

Hi Mollie,

You can change the living location on your account under 'change application' then 'course.' You may be asked to prove that you are living 'elsewhere' at some point, so it may be best to also upload our tenancy agreement in your name with an explanation of your circumstances.

That’s great, thanks Clare. Do you happen to know the lead time for a change of circumstance. Thanks

Yes, this is currently taking 16 working days. So, once you upload the form and evidence please check your account and e-mails for any updates.

Thanks, Graeme
