how many solutions to that long equation with like 4 roots in it. and the answer was like 6/7 or something

oh yeah, have no clue what that question was but think i put 7

yeah i think they tried to catch ppl out cus some of the square roots had a negative in them so u had to remove them as solutions.
ok jesus last two qs were isosceles triangle + the binomial expansion one. thank **** my brain **** that out randomly

8/10 im thinking cuz i ****ed up the integral one and triangle one (somehow), but it is what it is

i think for triangle i got second last one iirc, which would be D. i just did Pythagoras and 1/2bh for all of them, and that one was highest if I didn't make silly mistake. for binomial it was just difference of two squares and was like -2 to the 11 or something. did you get same?

For the triangle one, you just used derivatives to optimize for the area. Apparently the maximum was base at sqrt(200) and base of 15 was the closest one to that

ohh thats sm smarter than what i did. same answer though so its alright,.
On Q4, were there any nice ways of doing the first two parts other than lots of algebra and rearranging?

i personally just did algebra but subbed a big rooted fraction with a variable and that made it easier then converted back at end.

binomial one was just -(5C3(2^12)) IIRC, so -(5 x 2 x 2^12) which was -2^13 x 5? Thats what i got atleast, assuming i didnt accidentally miss a term/trick.

What did you get for question A (closest log to an integer)

What did you get for question A (closest log to an integer)

C i think? which was equiv to log98

hint kinda gave the trick away fortunately

used the hint tofind out log something + log sometihing = 2 - log (9.8) and log(9.8) is pretty much an intger

Did anyone else get 4 to the power of 8 for the last part of q3? For the max value of the cos function

Yes I did. Also what did u guys get for the mcqs where an expression was squared like 3 times, and u needed to find the number of real roots?

I want to say 7 roots but do not quote me, it 6 or 7

Wait which form did that answer take? Like in terms of alpha, beta, gamma

Kl thanks. Also for M I got 4/3 but other people getting 3/2. What's the agreed result?

its 3/2 you can check on desmos

i got 3/2 too but i got the answer p quickly making me think it might've not been the right way. but I've seen too many people getting 3/2 so its probably that.

2 alpha + beta I think. Or smth similar
