Pretty eh, although having a bit of a confidence failure reading these responses haha. I spoke about respect and care from leaders as a desired characteristic, the need for a judicious decision maker as a characteristic and then analysed what they wanted to be determined as like priorities, and then the motif of food and agriculture throughout and how the responsibility for delivering that was on the King. not feeling super confident about it but just happy it’s done haha

This sounds so well thought out! Ngl you’re giving ME a confidence failure hahaha. Good job!

Dw I didn't write about that and I don't think it was that relevant although you could've spoken about how it affects the reliability because it was written during Christianisation so when it was transcripted, some elements could've been edited

Exactly, I was planning on writing it in the reliability section! Oh well, I wrote about most other points at least!

I’m so conflicted ngl. I don’t think I wrote enough but what I wrote was ok? Like the fact it was a myth, written by a judge (explains the need for truth), the importance of communal living, the apparent lack of hierarchy, value = usefulness, the fact it may not demonstrate what ppl actually want but it’s been used for 500 odd years so clearly it’s at least semi relevant. But I was so VAGUE and I didn’t write well like usually I’m good with style of essay but I just sort word vomited lol

I also focused quite a lot on the value = usefulness topic, although I used the word 'pragmatic' quite a lot and by the end wasn't even sure if I was using the right word 😭 But totally agree on the word vomit point, I just feel like I wrote tons and tons of nothing

Just an Open Application tbh, didn't know much about each college individually (I only decided to apply for Oxford two weeks or so before the deadline lol) so I figured that would be the best option.
Also HisPol for me, though if Oxford doesn't work out I've got St Andrews and Edinburgh as reserves so far
And, then, if we get selected, we also have the interviews which will reject even more students... The process is so stressful...

Let's just hope...

The courses in Scotland take 4 years to complete and not 3, right?

Yep!
Outside of points made about the rulers' involvement in agriculture, artisanry, justice, and the military, I made an introductory comment distinguishing oral history from written history. In the 500 or so years before the Testament was transcribed, it was disseminated orally, which means that its contents would likely have evolved over time to remain relevant to the social and cultural context of the time (including changing values and beliefs), this meant that despite being oral history, it would be quite relevant.

Oooo, that would have been good to write (oral history changing over time thus being relevant), I went the opposite direction (oral history changes and so can't be fully relied upon) and now I kinda regret it after reading your point!

I suffered with 5 computer crashes and only wrote 750 words and was nowhere near finished as I lost 20 minutes of time due to technical issues. I’ve applied for special considerations but I’m worried it will affect my chances ☹️

I talked about strong lineage/ancestry being important, honesty/respect, religion, justice, stability and military strength but I feel really disadvantaged due to losing a third of my time and losing all my notes part of the way through. Well done to everyone else though!!

I wrote about agriculture and animal husbandry. Also about natural resources like gold, silver and bronze, used to create artefacts (was in the source) and about justice and stability. And that the king had the responsibility to solve disputes and control the military. As bias, I talked about Christianity and how it influenced his views.

how Christianity influenced the judge’s views??? cuz I think i completely misinterpreted the test - i thought they meant that the judge was an important figure in religious mythicism and not a mythological creation lol so i wrote about similar things to you
Is it a blunder that I made fleeting reference to mythology and focus more on the source being oral and then written down. Didn’t think it being a myth was useful to my answer. Also did anyone else try any else try order the priorities. I mentioned 1 priority but said it was the biggest one. Talked about agriculture and religion also.

Well I also didn't talk about the mythology and I also wrote about it being oral history. I agree; I don't see how it was relevant to the question. Maybe the value in mythologies in early Irish society? I feel like yeah maybe we will get the low level indicator for not talking about it but at the same time, if they're a good marker they could understand that the fact it is oral is the same as mythology. I mean what is the difference between oral history and mythology frankly?

I feel like they will put as a low level indicator 'overly negative about the fact the testament is a mythology or insufficiently discusses its effects'. They normally like a balanced but inclusive answer. I wonder how much they follow the mark scheme though because in the workshop and on the website video, they did say they also credit historically perceptive points that are fully omitted from the scheme.

Fair enough. What matters is historical perception and coverage is only a fraction of the marks so if you wrote well on it, that's great. Aaaah but I forgot to write about the fact it was a mythology; that is a massive blunder.

Same!! I’ve totally messed it up now I didn’t say anything about it being a mythology it just didn’t click in my brain

I wouldn’t worry too much. The HAT is marked positively (examiners consider what you have included rather than critiquing you too much for what you excluded) so you should be ok.
