Calling someone a "Nazi" because they're German, racist?

I got negged for saying:

Nebthet
I'm half German and have been on the receiving end of Nazi jokes since I was in primary school. So yeah, most of my friends act racist. But it's all a 'joke' to them, so I don't think they consider themselves racist. Because when you point it out they go, "Oh yeah, but I didn't mean it, it was just a joke! Can't you take a joke?"

But yeah... Hmm. My mom is rather racist, but she was brought up that way... So I dunno if I can completely blame her for that.

(In response to a thread about racism/homophobia)

The neg said:

Sorry, have to neg for you implying that German is a race.

I dunno, I would consider calling someone a "Nazi" on the basis that they are German, racist. But that's just me.

What do y'all think? Racist or not?

And if not... What then?

I to would consider it racist.
Not really Racist, just ignorant.
from the way your friends are saying it, no, but if someone were to call you a nazi in an argument for example than yes.

well. that's what i think anyway:smile:

I do it, why not?
As my wise great-grandfather taught me; "Germans are the scum of the earth".
race 1. a group of persons related by common descent or heredity.
2. a population so related

are the germans related by common descent or heredity? yes.
are they a population so related? yes.

so the germans are indeed a race, as they match up to the denotation of the word 'race'.
so by calling all german 'nazis' i would agree that it is racist.

I don't blame hitler personally, he could have been a nice bloke, he just gave the germans what they wanted; war and genocide.

well, come back when you have solid proof that the German wanted war and genocide at the time Hitler was in power.
well i would think its racist yes.... but it really depends on your tone and how well u know the person ... if they could have got away with it or not.....the world is becoming so politically correct anyway im sure you were probably out of line.... me personaly ....nah

Ask any historian; they were gagging for it.
Yes, it is one hundred percent racist. It's unacceptable and I would have hit them myself.

Lol replies like this are so lame...similar to the standard "look mate, I've got black friends, I can't be racist" which is so logically rubbish. How could your friends in the modern setting know what 1930s Germans wanted?

I view the Germanic people as a race (an awesome one, at that). I also think it is typical English arrogance to call a German a Nazi. But then that's what tends to happen when they have no culture left for themselves and spend time deriding others.
I see it as racist. Calling all Germans Nazis is prejudice.

i didn't ask an historian, i asked you - the person who claims to know everything about something which you weren't even alive to see.
