Handing work on turn it in

I've never cheated on anything academic. Certainly not at uni.

I've not taken any offense. I tend to respond to posters in manner they address me. I'm not employed by the site and follow the same posting guidelines
as everyone else. I don't think there's anything in the community rules about being kind, but all my posts above were constructive and directly addressing what the OP was saying. I'm not hear to coddle them if they don't understand what plagiarism is.

As a year 12, i get your position so if it was absolutely necessary and counted towards your grade I'd do it, i'd probably put it on spinbot, get chatgpt to help me submit it.

But considering the fact you're in yr 12, is it rly worth it? Better to do it urself, get a bad grade and take is as a lesson to do your work beforehand so any questions can be answered at least 4 days b4 the assignment is due yk?
Me personally, id use my friend's work from last year as an inspiration for what I could come up with yk? Changing the words wont make it NOT plagiarism, still plagiarism since they ideas and concepts are the same ygm? I'd maybe use one or two ideas but in general use it as inspo!

Talking ab chatgpt, its a great place for advice! Could've asked it to help you plan out your essay? It's technically not cheating since you still need to come up with your own words but it'd give you enough help to not be stuck yk?
Next time (assuming you have already turned in your friends assignment) just do it urself, i used to turn in my friends assignment in year 11 and it never helps ngl.

T-T). Some people are just so rude to people, idk why they're so offended by your questions. I mean educate them instead of acting so up-right and stuck up (Admit-One im looking at you, i get what OP said is very dumb but they genuinely wanted to weigh out the pros and cons, not be attacked by you and your stuck up comments)

Love the fact you never cheated in uni, OP is not in uni, though, and im sure would understand how grave of a situation it is to cheat and hand in a plagiarised piece of work in uni.

Idk how to quote stuff, but OP does mention only using it as an example template afterwards to NickH77, so perhaps they forwarded their question incorrectly in the actual post and meant to write they wanted to use it as inspo (as that is what 'example template' suggests) and whether that would count as plagiarism (which it wouldnt as taking inspiration from something is definitely not plagiarism).

Also, after you mentioned how 'rewording is still plagiarism', OP asked (in a way which i don't believe to be rude/passive aggressive but rather in a frustrated tone) what you would do if you were stuck in their situation. To me, it does not seem as if OP was asking whether you would also cheat, but rather, what would you do - maybe they wanted to know to take that advice themself?
You, however, answered in a condescending way imo, i dont see how OP deserved that behaviour? Obviously afterwards their replies to you and others wasn't the best.

I'm not trying to create a fight. I hope you understand. I just wanted to shed some light as to what OP probably actually meant (and i dont think she did it in a ridiculous way and totally hid her actual intention).

Thank you for understanding me honestly made me feel so better. I just need some advice and guidance and all I was getting was hate.Most of the things they were saying was very unrealistic.
But I did use my friends work for inspiration and changed it and only got 8% of plagiarism and I got a Distinction too! I have learned not to leave work last minute and always ask for support when needed.

I appreciate that your replies have come with good intentions. I would just bear in mind that the OP was planning to plaguarise, started a thread asking whether they'd get away with it, and has now returned to confirm that yes, they submitted plagiarised work.

They used it as inspiration and only got 8% plagiarism (which is still bad, next time OP should strive to make it 0% plagiaris).
However, if OPs teacher is okay with it and rewarded her with a distinction, i fail to see how it has become your problem?

I understand her initial intention may have come off as bad to you, but she did then later on mention she only used it as a template inspiration.
She should be happy she got a distinction as most of her turned in work is her own hard work.

It’s not my problem. The OP asked a question weeks ago and several of us answered. I’m only back here because you bumped the thread after 3 weeks of inactivity and started sub-quoting me.

It’s a textbook case of plagiarism and we shouldn’t handwave it away by saying they “took inspiration”. They reworded it. That’s their exact explanation above.

If your and their position is that they got away with it so no harm, no foul then there’s not much else anyone can say in the matter. Again, as per one of my comments above then the thread is somewhat irrelevant.

I’m also not sure sure where these “Mr Perfect” comments are coming from. Asking someone not to plagiarise is such a pathetically low bar to meet.
