Sorry to hijack your screengrab but it highlights another annoyance for me, labelling posts as 'discussions'.

So far as I know, the 55249 figure is the postcount, but instead it's labelled as discussons which sounds more like number of threads to me.

Aside from "discussion" being a really poor choice of word, how can anyone think it's good to be inconsistent in the term used?

It just astounds me - where I work, if there was, (for example) a Thread View, I would get code/docs failed for writing thread view or Threads View, let alone using a completely different word!

And if we someone decided "actually, that should be Topic View" then (a) there'd be a huge discussion about whether this was actually a good idea, and (b) it would be a requirement that it had to be changed everywhere (we would probably require that 'a case-insensitive search of the code base for thread view doesn't find anything`).
Surely

Forums > topics
Threads > discussions
Posts > comments

On the "discussion" front, that's possibly the worst possible descriptor given how hard TSR works to block discussion of things it doesn't like.
On a general point - the level of thread necromancy is beyond absurd. Because of the way the feed now works, people are constantly replying to threads that were started months, years or even decades ago. People are replying to OPs who asked about UCAS choices - who have long since graduated, or applied for jobs in companies that no longer exist. Consider the absolute stupidity of this situation - TSR used to go around locking threads that were over a certain age (because reasons) - now it is actively encouraging replying to them. If a thread is very old (as in it was started 10 years ago), but continually active - then fair play. But if someone posted about taking days off school or something in 2015, what possible benefit is there to replying to that in 2024?

Yes, there seems to be a lot of these inconsistencies. Noting that the main uni applications forum, (which must surely be the most active and important section of the site), is variously described as any of the following depending on what menu, site view or even device you are using:

- Applying through UCAS
- Applications, Clearing and UCAS
- Uni Applications

I find this happens to me when the destination page is still loading in the background. If I swipe down to clear the notifications list I am often stll at the top of the thread, IE. it hasn't gotten to the point of taking me to the latest post.
Thanks for making it easier to see more than 5 notifications at a time ! ❤️
Running unusably slowly this morning- can type a whole sentence before anything appears in the reply box.
The website asked me to sign in even though I was already logged on? Like the page I was just on reloaded to the latest post and told me to sign in again. Weird
