The Student Room Group

Part time maintenance loan

Hi,

I'm currently studying at the Open university. My course is 120 credits and equivalent to 100% intensity. I have uploaded evidence from my GP of my mental health diagnosis (depression). If I end up being eligible for a maintenance loan, would this be the same amount as what a full time student would get?

Also, is DSA awarded as money or is it just assistance based on what I'm struggling with?

Thank you.

Hi there,

The maintenance loan would be based on the intensity of the course so it wouldn't be the same as a full time student. Evidence does take 6 weeks as an estimated timescale to process. You can track your application with our processing timescale via here: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/sfe-current-application-timescales or via your account here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8a4p4IP1lzo.

DSA is a separate source of funding and a different department. For help with DSA queries you can either email them at [email protected], explaining your query or you can call us on 0300 100 0607 and we can transfer you through to a DSA representative. Thanks, Jason
