I am looking for some short term accommodation whilst something longer-term gets finalised.

Looking for a cheap room within cycling distance from the university of Salford.

I'm very clean and a decent cook.

Are you currently a student here with us at Salford? If so I'd really recommend having a chat with our accommodation team in AskUS to see what they can look at for you, as they're a team for any student needing support with finding accommodation or if you're having accommodation issues. I'd also recommend posting on the Manchester Student Homes message board on their site - MSR was set up by ourselves and the other Manchester universities to make sure students could find safe housing with checked landlords, so its worth having a look to see if anyone has a short term space in their house!
