Does anyone have experience with UWS primary interview?
I am aware of the format but was wondering what sort of questions should I expect?

I’m so nervous as this is the one I really want😬
I think they asked: why primary and why now? Something about when i showed integrity/trust/respect - basically GTCS values for SPR? Something about teaching maths in a year 4 class which i can't rememeber much about sorry! And they asked about that paper - something about the conclusions of it so make sure you understand the gist of the paper they send. Got an offer very quickly from them so fingers crossed for you!!

Hi everyone, has anyone had an interview for Strathclyde primary? I have been invited for interview in March and feels so soon with so much to prepare! What kind of questions did people get asked if they have been yet?
Hiya, I had mine last week and it was on zoom, the lady shared her screen and had the questions written there. I can't fully remember the qs tbh but there was something like what is the role of a teacher? something about that weird scenario which tbh i overprepared for and still have no idea what they meant by the question - some nonsense about how would you respond to that scenario if you witnessed it?
Basically prep wise just have some stuff about how you have skills and understanding of SPR (i think the CoPAC stuff and realising the ambition was not useful info unless you can be arsed reading 1000 pages ahah.
Oh yes she also said it's super demanding doing PGDE and everyone has breakdowns and how will i manage to cope with the stress etc. GOOD LUCK!

Hi there, I’ve applied to the PGDE for Secondary and Spanish at Strrathclyde and Glasgow uni but have not heard anything back. Just wondering if anyone from MFL heard anything back yet? I’ve submitted my application on the 30th of Jan and just worried I’ve left it too late.

I submitted mine for PGDE Mod Langs around then too - 28th or so.

Got interviews for both a few days later.

Had Glasgow Uni interview last week. They said it could be a couple of weeks to officially hear the result.

Hope you hear back soon.

Hello! I have been invited to an interview/selection event with UHI in a couple weeks and I was wondering if anyone has any experience of what it is like? I also submitted my maths/english/degree qualifications to Strathclyde and now am awaiting a response from them!
Hello, I had my interview yesterday. It was quite relaxed, I was in a call with 4 others. You just say why you want to do the degree (briefly) then there’s a 20 minute group discussion (which isn’t as long as you’d think) on a topic. Then you write a short essay on a scenario, you get 30 minutes. That was it, it was two hours in total.

Also make sure to be heard in the group discussion and don’t let anyone talk over you

Hi there,

I applied for PGDE Secondary Biology at Edinburgh, Edi Napier, Aberdeen, Strathclyde and UHI. Have my interview for Napier tomorrow morning and UHI in a couple of weeks. Not heard from the other unis yet, is this normal?

Any advice for the Napier interview would be much appreciated! I have to give a 5 mins presentation on a biology topic of my choosing (doing DNA structure). Just unsure if im expected to know the sqa curriculum inside out.

Thanks!

Hello! Have you had a response from any of the unis you applied to?

I’m am also applying to Edinburgh for PGDE Art & Design but have not had a response as yet 😕 I applied in January.
Hi! So I’ve done my interviews for Strathclyde early Feb and got an offer, and recently done at interview for Edinburgh and got an offer for that as well. I got offered an interview at UWS but withdrew my application (and from UHI) as I am more keen on Edi/Strathclyde. Heard nothing from Glasgow.
I applied 23 January if that helps.

How did you wait for your Strathclyde offer if you don’t mind me asking?

Only a few days, same with Edinburgh.
They usually say 7-14 days though I believe.

I got offered a place at Napier! Interview was very relaxed. Got asked 5 set questions, then gave my presentation, then had the opportunity to ask questions myself.

Questions I got asked were for those interested:

1) Why do you want to be a teacher?
2) What experience do you have working with younger people?
3) What do you think makes a good teacher?
4) What do you think you will find difficult about the course and teaching?
5) What are the big challenges within education today?

Congrats on your offers!! Have you decided between Edinburgh & Strathclyde?

What was the interview process like for Edinburgh?
I applied 23 January too, still haven't heard anything yet though.
