Foundation Year for Sports Related subjects?

Hi, I'm thinking of undergoing the foundation year route, because I didn't receive the grades I wanted, with hopes of moving into something like sports rehab, sport & exercise science or physiotherapy (at unis that offer it at foundation level). I was just wondering what anyone's experience of foundation year was like for this subject area/foundation year "life" in general. Any tips or things you would have liked to know before starting would be helpful!

Also if you are doing the courses mentioned how are you liking them and would you recommend it to someone who simply likes sports and helping people?

Thanks!!

Hello there,

I hope you are well.

Sport courses at Cardiff Met are very popular, and we do offer the courses you mentioned except physiotherapy.

For the foundation year entry requirements, we normally ask for five GCSEs to include English, Mathematics and Science at grade C or above; and at least 2 A level subjects or equivalent to meet 56 UCAS tariff points. You can find more information here: Foundation leading to BSc Health Sciences - Cardiff Metropolitan University.

Foundation year will give you a broad picture of what you will study in the future in Year 1 and allow more time for you to prepare yourself. You can progress onto Year 1 directly upon successful completion of the foundation year.

If you really like sports and do not meet the Year 1 entry requirements, you can consider to apply to a foundation year. You can contact the programme leader, Paul Foley via [email protected] and they will be able to discuss with you.

Should you have any general questions, you can drop us an email via [email protected].
