It isn't results - maybe personal statement or references. If you REALLY want to go you could take a gap year, get some experience to make yourself stand out and reapply

If he's applying for deffered entry he was already planning a gap year
OP; that may be the reason you were rejected. A lot of uni's just say come back next year - that way they'll be able to compare you to the next lot of applicants

Well not everyone can get in, and i know someone else who is in the same position as you.

Got rejected from oxford today. I feel your pain.
Sounds ridiculous to me but unfortunately, I suppose it happens.

HOWEVER Cambridge do interview a lot of applicants so maybe you could speak to your school/college about your personal statement and see exactly what was in your reference?

I'd be the same as you and want some clarification!

Thanks for the replies.
I'm doing a gap year any way, so I might reapply to some different unis.
Btw I have offers from Durham, Nottingham, Warwick and Sheffield all at AAB so my personal statement must have been pretty decent.

Tbf I wasn't THAT bothered about going to cambridge but I would have liked to have an interview.

I applied to Robinson for Engineering deffered entry.
AS' are AAAA (maths, further maths, physics and chemistry)

Anyone heard of this or got any idea why i was rejected??

I wish I had applied to Imperial instead now.

:yep:

Apply for Imperial next year after your gap year?

Can you not get hold of the admissions tutor and ask? Someone told me that whenever you get a rejection most unis will let you know why, upon request.

Unlucky. You could probably ask for feedback, if you so wish.
They will give feedback if you ask.

The thing with deferred entry is that you don't just need to be amazing in terms of this year's candidates, you also need to be amazing in comparison to next year's as yet unknown candidates.

I heard that it was even more competitive for engineering than Cambridge, so I wanted to be safe and put some lower universities on instead.

If I had known that I was going to recieve all my other offers so easily/quickly I would have put it down.

being rejected from ox bridge does not mean your life is over..
people can go to much worse unis in terms of prestige and can land up making more money and getting a better uni experience!
dont worry ...
