Hello!! I just joined student room, I have an offer for F300 Physics, needs AAA and I took comp sci, physics, and maths : ], I suppose a good question is how is physics at lancaster, I could kinda tell it seems good from all the equipment but asking ppl seems good, thanks

Hi @Macslash

I really enjoyed the physics degree at Lancaster. I especially enjoyed the labs and I am now studying for a PhD in experimental physics. The lecturers are all very friendly and approachable.

Thanks Tineke 🙂 The physics dept has been superb, cannot fault it one bit. The graduation was amazing. Such a lovely day. And loved grizedales set up when we went down there for drinks afterwards. Shes been in Manchester the day after graduation at her boyfriends and his mums house since, as her contract for private halls 5 mins from Manchester uni didnt start until 2 days ago. Shes now got the keys and gradually moving her bits over. Induction starts on the 20th for an early October start. She has felt homesick for Lancaster though. She does really miss the place, but hopefully plans to go and visit as theres a couple of friends still there. Glad to hear from you again, and good to hear youve enjoyed your degree and enjoying phd 🙂

Hi. I was wondering if you have catered accommodation, can you eat at The Marketplace if you are living in Lonsdale or Cartmel accommodation or vice versa if you are in Bowland or County college and would like to eat at Barker House Farm?
Also, if you have catered accommodation, can you have to-go meals if you are in a rush to get to lectures?

Hi,

Unfortunately I am unsure on the answer to your question as I did not get catered accommodation.

I would suggest that you email [email protected] or the accommodation team on 01524 594910
or [email protected] if you still need help with this and haven't found the answer or information you're looking for.

Hope this helps, Ella - Lancaster University Student Ambassador

Hi, I’m starting as a commuter student but was wondering if anyone knows where I can get a uni lanyard from since I assume most people will be getting them when they collect their keys?

Hi its my understanding that you will still be in a college, even as a commuter. The porters lodge should be able to help, or the accommodation manager in getting you a lanyard 🙂

Thanks Tineke 🙂 She is. Shes settled there pretty well. Went out for a drinks in the engineeering bar on campus on the wednesday and the have a particle physics coffee morning on a mondays, where theres a bake off every couple of weeks. She got a grant for a macbook to handle the programmes needed which was nice, and her private halls room is lovely. Currently reading lots of papers and making notes on them. Lots of highlighting involved lol. Hope your doing well and enjoying the phd 😀

Hi! There's a lot of events happening as part of welcome week so definitely just ask the student reps or the college staff around and they should be able to grab you one!
