Honestly, I’d tell you but I’m not sure haha. And you’re right about King’s courses being interesting. And being in such a historically important city to study a degree like that is the dream.

Yeah, there’s a high chance I’ll firm KCL, and I’ve heard the same about living in London. I do love the city, but I am definitely worried about it feeling lonely since it’s just so massive. That’s actually the reason I started talking here, to potentially find others in the same situation.

exactly that's so true. it's almost the best place to be for seeing what you learn in action (or as much action as you can get out of a history degree)

honestly me too - I know it will be fine once we settle in properly but all the same the idea of it isn't the greatest. is anyone else feeling a bit iffy about it?

yes completely! I was already nervous about it being a city uni as opposed to campus but l really love the course i’ve applied to and hope that if i go in with the mindset to put myself out there and be social it’ll hopefully all work out 😭😭

Hi @Alixolotli,
Congrats on your Lancaster offer, and hope you hear back from UCL soon! I'm currently in my 3rd year studying Physical Geography at Lancaster, so would be more than happy to answer any questions you have relating to Lancaster/LEC. It can be really hard deciding between universities, so as well as looking at the universities as a whole, maybe look at the difference in courses, as studying environmental science at 2 different universities can mean you study completely different modules. If you look on the course pages for the courses your interested in it should have a list of modules you could expect to study and see which ones interest you the most, i'll put the link for Lancaster's course page below.
Environmental Science BSc Hons (F750) - Lancaster University
Hope this helps!

Wow thanks so much! For Lancaster i actually applied for Physical Geography MSci (with a year abroad) so that's amazing! I do actually have a couple of questions; What do you think/how is the timetable structures? e.g. Are the practical's that you do in the Lake District all day? And how independent is the work/collaborative are the classes and how much free time would you say you get? 🙂 Any tips? I visited Lanc and it looked soo lovely but i was thinking since KCL is closer to home it's overall much cheaper and less of a big change so i'm feeling conflicted 💔

I've lived in London all my life and honestly it feels the opposite of lonely - so long as you put yourself out there! Join societies and if you're living in student accom those can potentially be lifelong friends - or that was the case for my parents who studied in London haha! Plus theres so much to do for relatively low prices if you know where to look - there's a lot of protected green space so great for walks!
