my mum can’t tell the difference between me and the dog…help

hey guys, so this is my first time writing a post so i’m very nervous sorry
basically my family has had this german shepherd for a year. her name is Bianca, she was named after my (17F) deceased identical twin sister who died after eating a poisoned berry on a camping trip four years ago (long story…i know, right). anyway my family found it really hard to cope and move on after Bianca died so we got a therapy dog to help with the trauma. the problem is, my mum is always calling me by Bianca’s name when she is talking to me and calling the dog by my name (censored for my protection). i tried to correct her numerous times, but she starts sobbing hysterically every time. i understand that she’s upset and this is a sensitive issue for the whole family, but i just want her to acknowledge me as her daughter. how should i make her remember that she has another daughter?
sorry for the long rant and thanks for reading, any help would be appreciated.
also, has anyone got an oxford interview for law yet?

Naming the dog after your deceased identical twin sister doesn't really seem the smartest of moves.

I suspect that this has nothing to do with the dog, or her missing your sister. I suspect that if Bianca (sister, not dog) were still alive, your mum would still get your names wrong sometimes. That's nothing to do with not being able to tell you apart, or genuinely getting you confused, it's just that the brain gets muddled-up sometimes.

I remember really struggling with the female name Jan (short for Janet) and the male Scandinavian name Jan (pronounced Yan). Despite the different genders and different pronunciations, by brain just froze every time I tried to refer to either of them by name.

And my mum always tells the story of her dad calling her by four or five different names before he got it right. (He'd use the names of his sisters, and then his wife, before he managed to reach the right name for his own daughter.)

People muddle-up names. It doesn't mean your mum doesn't know that you are distinct from Bianca (sister or dog).
