Friday 12th January
I was not as productive as I’d have liked to be on Thursday - but I had a full day and wasn’t able to eat lunch because a meeting ran over so I’ll let that be my ‘rest’ day. Trying to justify the procrastination 😭

Anyway my plan for today is to get a lot of comp work done since I’ve finally been able to get the team on track so I need to follow through myself.

Plan:
School

✅L1+L2 Maths

L3 - Write email to sponsor, display design, if possible order resources

✅L4 Biology

✅Lunch - continue work from L3

✅L5 Chemistry

After school

✅3:30 = 45 mins med book

✅5:00 = 45 mins chemistry notes

✅6:00 = 30 mins bio notes

7:00 onwards display design

✅9:30 chill and read and sleep

Other:

✅Completed maths homework

Yeah albeit a different order 😂 I did 30 mins extra of biology, worked on display a bit but I’m waiting on a friend to send some graphics over before I can finish it. I may be procrastinating chem… I’ve given myself 30 mins break then I’m going to sit down, put a study bunny 45 min timer and force myself to face it 😂

Update:
Yesterday although I didn't do much in terms of revision I felt productive and balanced for the first time in ages. I also unexpectedly got some work experience - so that's nice. I started reading the Picture of Dorian Gray - so far it has a lot of prose and Dorian is apparently really upset that he's going to grow old? I've heard mixed reviews, apparentely you love or hate it, I think I need to get further into it to tell.

Today I am going to finish my plan from Friday - and since I'm feeling awake for once maybe even do an hour extra of revision.

Since yesterday was a good day I want more good days - so does anyone have any tips on how to maintain a good sleep schedule? For a night owl - I cannot wake up at 5 like some people how do you do it. I'm asking because when I finally get good sleep everything else goes well

Also does anyone have any chem revision tips? For any part of it really. I'm good at chem generally, but out of all of my subjects I find it is always the one that no matter how much I revise I struggly to apply that knowledge to the question.

Will update tomorrow on what tasks I'll be doing, for now have a nice Sunday all!

read in bed for an hour before you sleep, and don’t use your phone in bed at all.
and don’t revise in bed either, it confuses your brain when you try to sleep that it’s time for work lol
that’s what helped me at least

Ok Sunday didn't work out revision wise, luckily I don't have any mocks or tests so it wasn't vital but I don't want to start getting into that habit of thinking it's ok to skip revision.

School:

✅Break - comp design

✅L3 Biology - hopefully mock back? - Mock not back

✅L4 - Chat with head of year on a level goals + prepare for med club + order merch

✅Lunch - med club

✅L5 Chemistry notes

After school:

❌3:30-5 Webinar - CANCELLED

✅5:45-6:45 Display design

✅7:45-8:45 Chemistry✅ + Biology Anki

✅Read and sleep

Other:

Pay for social

✅Organise team meeting

✅30 mins extra bio notes

Update on today:
Everything has gone well so far - unfortunately the webinar was rescheduled for tomorrow, so I've watched an episode of a show my friend has been dying for me to watch and have done some extra emails, posts and planning for my upcoming comp. Sadly I can't continue much of the display until I recieve graphics later so I'm going to do 30 mins extra biology notes, 30 mins ss application, and whilst I can some extra comp work in that time.

Today med club went well! I wanted to do something more interactive so we looked at the importance of bedside manner, and I had my friend act as different sorts of patients so the members could practise these skills. We also learnt some basic sign language to better our non verbal communication skills! I'm very proud of this club, I know it's not amazing but I feel like the students enjoy it and every session gets better - it's days like these that make me more certain that I want to go into Medicine. Next week we're having a 'fun' session so I'm going to see if I can bring the 'Operation' game in and some quizzes 😂 I think it'll be a good break in between mocks.

My talk with the Head of Year went well - she said that my planning out my days here is a fantastic time managment strategy (yay all GYG bloggers), but she told me to be careful not to overwork - so note to any of you reading that you should relax too and have a balance!

I've also got a Chemistry trip soon so that will be a fun break!

Now I'm going to try and figure out Anki - wish me luck!

The med club sounds so fun and informative specially for the mmi’s, i would love to be a part of something like that so you are doing great! Also your head of year sounds like a very nice person, i am glad you got a positive feedback.
Where are you going for your chem trip?👀
I also really like the new name of ur blog!!<3

Thanks - I'm trying to make it fun since we have such a small school 😂 I'm not sure what year you're in, or if you're particularly interested in medicine, but if so you should definitely make one of your own!

Just to a local uni, so nothing big haha, but they're going to through some practicals with us - which is definitely my weakest area so it'd be nice to practise and have some fun doing it!

And thanks 😊 I felt like it sort of summed up what I talked about more than just the 'journey to productivity', which is a journey all right but perhaps not the most consistent one currently

[*✅]L2 Biology

✅L3 Biology notes

✅L4 15 mins Bio Anki, 45 mins display design - get 1/3 done at least

Lunch comp work + merch + budget

✅L5 Further Maths

I think I sometimes forget how much time I revise with free lessons in school - but that gives me more time to relax at home, even if I still have 100 things to do. I'm also really excited to find volunteering positions soon, but I still want to join 3 new clubs just for fun - I'll limit it to one 😂 Goodnight/day all - will update tomorrow

Update:
Just had my webinar, I swear they always give me a surge of motivation 😂

Today has been productive so far. I got my Biology mock back, 75% so I'm happy! I know I have to look at past papers and mark schemes to ensure I use the exact terminology (I lost a mark for saying exchanging gasses and not oxygen why so specific😭). Only maths to go now...

I think I'll have to tidy a bit today - currently studying in bed rather than at my desk which isn't ideal.

I've given myself a goal to do one social thing every week, although this week I have more like 3! Just so I can feel bit more balanced and see my friends more.

Also does anyone think it would be a good idea for me to do suturing (stiches) on bananas in my med club? I'm trying to think of fun activities for next week.

Anyhoo I should get back to working, see you soon

Also to anyone reading - what do you want to see from a GYG blog?

Wednesday 17th January
Honestly I feel like the last two days have been pretty good for productivity! So today is more of a chill day for revision, and I get to spend some time with my friend too. Not to mention PJO ep is out! On Thursday we've got a full day (and last mock result?!), so it will be intense. I'm lucky atm to have no upcoming tests, but I don't want to let my guard down.

Just found out that the company I emailed for volunteering is happy for my med club members to help them! I'm so happy it worked out 😊

Also what extracurriculars do you guys do? I'm thinking of joining the school's new eco club (even though it is ran by the two scariest teachers).

A key:
Done
Not done
Moved to another time
⭕️ Started/in progress/not as much as I should

School:

✅L1 Chemistry - check over egni ioneiddiad olynol, also ask about med club banana stitches idea

✅L2 Further Maths

✅Break - NEED TO ORDER MERCH

⭕️L3 Volunteering Application + ✅ask Miss R about uniq

✅L4 15mins Anki, ⏩45mins Chemistry Notes

✅Start of lunch - Mr E go over pressure graphs

After School

✅Go to gym with friend after lunch (low-key scared, I need to exercise though)

⏩4:30-5:15 Budget, cash flow forecast, ⭕️scope

⏩5:45-6:30 Further Maths notes + ✅hw (pure hw first, then mech notes)

7:15-8:00 Chem notes

Percy Jackson episode (I was obsessed with the book - I now watch the new ep every week)

✅2 chapters Dorian Grey

If have time

30 mins SS application

Wow! You do a lot of volunteering and the med club should be so grateful for having you and you organising so many things for them.
It so essential to have a physical activity (a reminder for me too🥲) so i hope you enjoy gym!
lastly, what merch are you ordering?👀

Thanks for previous reply too! I enjoy yours as well, and I try to keep mine engaging haha

I was really worried about the club since we've never had one before and I'm new to the med field (well about 5 months ish), but that means a lot 😊

I knowwww! In thee summer I walk more but it's too cold now! My friend goes to the gym every day so she can help me tomorrow even though I'll probably be useless.

Some mugs and bags for a team engineering competition. We have to have a display and marketing materials so we'll probably give them out at the comp soon
