UMMM MEAN GIRLS DUHH! Oh i love it 😻
Anyways i am soo proud of you for finally taking breaks and having a rather slow Saturday, good job for getting so much done today even if it meant not ticking everything of ur to do list you still have done loads!
Also I didn’t realised you work on top of so much volunteering you go girl!
Have a lovely Monday 🤍

😂 I’m going to watch the new one this week with my friends too - it won’t be as good as the og or the musical, but I’m hoping it’ll still be fun. And thanks, I’m trying to get more clinical volunteering which is difficult, but the three comps I’m doing will be done in next month or two so I should have more time to revise and relax soon 🤞

Have a great Monday too x
Tuesday 22nd January
I'm still feeling unwell, my head just feels so heavy so it's hard to concentrate on work but I'm still trying to push through. Yesterday went well for work, but today I won't be doing much.

Plan for today

✅Chem practicals

⏩Prepare for webinar

1 hour Catchup on double biology

❌5:00 Webinar - CANCELLED

✅7:00 Biology comp work

Read 2 chapters of book

Update - I'm feeling 10x worse, so honestly not that mad that the webinar is cancelled

Umm guys I just realised I put the last two dates wrong 😭😂 My mind is not computing right now.

Anyhoo, I'm still feeling pretty awful but I'm going to push through it because there is still work to be done! Later I'm watching the new Mean Girls and I'm going to come back and go straight to bed because I need rest if I hope to survive my mostly full day tomorrow...

In other news, should be getting my maths mock back tomorrow! Pretty confident in it, maths is the only subject which luckily I feel like I could still do well in without revision. Buttttt I'm way too scared to not revise so I still put the effort in - so if you think you're good at a subject don't completely disregard it! Anyway I hope that we get to go through the mock to see where I struggled.

I have created a thread in the Study section for motivational quotes and support! From reading GYGs and posts about predicted grades it seems that we all struggle mostly from lack of motivation, including myself. I'm hoping this thread may be able to help people start making systems and habits like a lot of GYG users have been doing. So if you'd like to add some of your face motivational quotes or study tips you are welcome to do so...

Also how is it Thursday tomorrow? The week has gone by SO fast! Hopefully everyone has had a nice first half to the week, and hopefully none of you have caught a cold like me!

Oh and I changed the name hehe. I feel like the name will change every week with my mood 😂

yeah why is the week speeding up?! please slow downnnnn
Thursday 25th January
How has it almost been a month already? That is not fair, my 2024 is going to fast already but also so much has happened?! It’s crazy.

Anyhoo, I’m feeling worse every day. I know this is the time to relax to feel better, but sadly my full day won’t allow it. I didn’t finish what I wanted to finish yesterday, and today I have way too much on to do extra revision. So today is to do what’s mandatory and sleep.

FYI Mean Girls was…fun? I love the og film, I really like the Broadway musical even if quality wise it’s not fab, but this film disappointed me on both ends. They took out the best parts of the songs, half of them couldn’t sing very well and everything just felt like it was half done. It felt like a first draft, not the finished product. But it was funny, but the so bad it was funny type. So I still enjoyed it, but I would not call that a good film in general. Maybe 2 and a half stars? If you still want to watch it go for it, but I personally think it’s not one you must see.

Anyway the actual plan for the day:
School

✅L1 chem

✅L2 do some maths homework - I have an extension because of how bad I feel (it’s due today), but I’d like to get some more done

✅Break

L3 Maths CANCELLED

✅L4 Maths - mock back?!

✅Lunch comp work

L5 Further Maths CANCELLED

After school

✅3:30-4:15 finish bio project

✅Watch x2 PJO episodes

❌6:30 Webinar CANCELLED

✅Sleep 💤

Why does it have to be such a long day 😭 I’ll meet you all on the other side

Extras

30 mins maths homework

(edited 1 year ago)
3 hours of maths was cancelled today...considering how I feel I'm relieved for now, but I know it means there will be more to catch up on again.

I got my maths mock back, 89% 😊 they still haven't marked the stats half though, so at least for Pure I'm doing well.

I'm finishing bio project now, but since they've been cancelled I'll add 30 mins maths homework and 30 mins applications.

Also a girl in the year above me got into Cambridge! Our school has never had an oxbridge student, she is living my dream. Hopefully I can be the second next year 🤞

Have a lush afternoon all
Friday 26th January
I'm planning this early for tomorrow. but then I can see my day better. Thankfully it's a short school day! I don't think I will feel much better by tomorrow though so again I'm going to try and take it easier.

🌟Question - how much would you pay for a tutor for GCSEs? 🌟I'm thinking of tutoring some students from the year below, but I don't know what a fair price would be. I'd tutor either Science or Maths probably. I'm trying to figure out if it's worth the time and effort

School

✅L1 Maths

✅L2 Maths

After school

✅1 hour maths homework

✅1 hour biology catchup

✅1 hour application writing

30 mins chem revision

⭕️1 hour comp work

I have so much faith in you and I am so sure you will get into Cambridge, the only thing after everything you have been doing is an amazing UCAT score which I am pretty sure you will get.
I can’t wait to see you get there!

Thanks for the tips! Yeah the problem in my school is a lot of teachers are leaving this year and not many staying so there are a few students already struggling worried, and since I worried when I had teachers I might as well help if I can. 🤞

Thanks so much 🥰 I will try my best! And I can’t wait to see you get into med school too! This might be a silly question, if you take a gap year is it for 2025 entry, and so you apply this October and spend a year working, gaining experience etc. Or is it a year off to do all of that and then apply for 2026 entry? I’m confused 😂

Its so not a silly question but a very good one. So I will be applying this years October, same year as you and for 2025 entry. When I finish 6th form in June in 2024, i will be working/work experience/ travel until this time next year, so 2025 jan-feb- where we will get interviews/offers. If I started in 2026 i would be an old woman by the time I start specialisation 😂
I am not planning to apply to Cambridge but if its in our fate we might meet at uni 😚
Also I don’t expect you to know this but if you have a general idea what Unis are you planning to apply? And what are you planning to put down as backup?

Honestly no clue about unis! I have barely travelled around the UK enough to even know what cities I like. I think I’ll convince my parents to take me on a ‘Uni trip’ in the summer 😂 to some that are interesting. Which ones are you interested in? I think Edinburgh looks nice although it’s far, not sure about a London Uni. I honestly just need to do more research 😆 My backup will probably be biochem or biomed. I was also thinking maybe natural sciences which I think they do at bath, because then I could still do the more mathsy aspects. Not entirely sure yet.

We’ll be going through UCAT together!

And you probably won’t know this either, but what are you thinking about for specialisation? I know it’s agessss away but I like to think of what I could be. Atm I’m thinking along the lines of GP or Paediatrician, but maybe even Endocrinology because I loved learning about that in GCSEs! I could not be a surgeon is all I know - I have so much respect for surgeons because that could never be me

Uffff a uni trip sounds exciting hope your parents agree🤭
I was hoping to apply strategically when I get my alevel grades and UCAT but I was thinking maybe HYMS, bristol, keele something of that sort.
For backup i did pharmacology, its a fab choice but i honestly don’t see myself doing that for the rest of my life so not that but I have really been considering aeronautical and aerospace engineering (with a foundation year because I don’t do maths) but I love the idea of it and perhaps going down the route of piloting or space related research (which is why my EPQ is related to that and medicine as well😎)
For specialisation i am thinking of GP as well but that is extra 5 years after 5-6 years of MBBS and the places for it are also extremely competitive all over the UK, which kind of makes me reconsider but its a top choice for now, we will see what the future beholds 🙂
Hopefully everything works out as planned <3
